ʇɹɐǝɥ ɐɹʇɔǝןǝ I’m well aware of that. I do see that morally, it crosses a few lines, but I also understand where L came from. (I am Team L after all.) Yep, he was gonna die any way. I think the point being expressed here is that Light is a hypocrite. You shouldn’t use someone as a sacrifice to gain a clue, but you can kill people whom you deem are guilty is kind of his mindset.

Everyone is talking about how Light crossed the line, but that is the whole point of the series. He didn't cross the line of morality in his own mind. Everyone places the line of morality in different places. Light developed a morality issue where he began to think that mass murder was okay, if it bettered the world. Ryuk says this in the first or second episode, that if Light kills every non righteous person in the world, there will still be one left, Light himself. Light of course denied this, because in his own mind, the line of morality is different than for other people. L on the other hand doesn't care about the line.

B. Knowlton When did L cross the line?
@ThePlatinumDragon4 жыл бұрын
@@liswatching3241 For L, he doesn't really define morality in as simple terms as black and white. For L, there is no line in a traditional sense. He had no qualms about using a man with the death sentence to further his means, after all, he was going to die anyway. I'm not saying this is right or wrong, just that L saw challenging Kira as a game more than stopping an injustice.
@liswatching32414 жыл бұрын
B. Knowlton If Lind survived, L would have revoked the sentence. So L is a benefactor to him
@ThePlatinumDragon4 жыл бұрын
@@liswatching3241 yes, but he didn't care that he did die. My point is, although L is my favorite character, the story shows that the two main characters, L and Light, both have a strange moral code and Light defines this line in his own terms while L doesn't follow the line.

Pandi Panda /// the really interesting thing is that in the Japanese version, mr yagami says “become a god unto yourself” in reference to having strong morals, and light says “I will become a god.” In the part that the English version says “never cross these lines,” Mr yagami is saying “become a god” and light is saying “I will be god.” It’s wonderfully representative of how light twists his father’s words and takes them to heart in all the wrong ways. He twists this advice to his own ends and hears what he wants to hear.

I love how Light says "You don't close your eyes and shoot." Some people in the comments have pointed out that Light didn't say "You don't load a gun" because in Huricane he said that he was handed a loaded gun, but that's not the only thing I love about it... I feel like the omission of that verse makes an overall difference. As someone said here, the lies in this song are because of omission. Light isn't telling the full story, literally: 'I won't close my eyes and shoot.' He isn't saying he won't shoot at all, he's just saying that he won't kill people randomly. He kills certain people, be it criminals or police officers, because of a reason in particular. He chooses his victims. Saying "You don't load a gun, close your eyes, and shoot" implies that you don't even load the gun to shoot, so your intention from the start is not to harm anyone. By not saying you won't load the gun, the phrase only implies these killings are meaningful and aren't an accident. 'I won't close my eyes and shoot; I'll look at them while shooting.' At least that's my take on this. Idk if it's what the writers were going for Edit: spelling errors. oops.

I was gonna comment on this but it seems like people have already commented on this, light was singing in between his father's lines therefore he was crossing the line. Light also only sings the part he agrees with "Never kill a man as a substitute" *(L using Lind L Taylor to see kiras true power)* .Light believes you do load a gun *("never load a gun")* but you have to aim *(Hurricane : "writing is the gun now, I only have to aim. ")*

The whole song is Soichiro criticizing L's methods, and Light saying "yes father, I agree let's criticize L together"

2:00 that’s a reference to Light’s black and white morality saying there is clear distinction between bad and good

i love how different each song is, like i feel like most musicals stick with one vibe and it works very very well, but i’m in love with how the vibe changes so quickly in each song- idk it just makes me really happy

"you don't justify the means / in the service of an end" im sure this has been a discussion before, but these lines (and many others in this song) remind me of both light *and* L. sure, mass murder and the questionable torture and illegal kidnapping L's done do have a difference. however, in a way, they both use the ends to justify the means. light killed innocent people who "got in his way" (even though some of these innocent people's deaths were unnecessary) because in the end, he believed this was necessary to create the new world. where innocent people don't have to be in fear of crime, as he believed. L kept misa (and light, but he volunteered so it's debatable) imprisoned against her will, presumably illegally, and practically tortured her to get her to confess. being kept in a restrained position like that and isolated wouldn't be classified by very many people as humane. and, if i recall correctly, i believe he withheld food from her in the first few days? he convinced soichiro to pretend to shoot his own son as a "final test" to prove light's innocence. considering light had lost his memories at that time, i think he did genuinely believe his father. although it was never shown, an event like that could very well cause trauma to a teenager's psyche. for both light and L, they do hold some form of the belief that "the ends justify the means." they're a mirror of one another sometimes, but that's just one example. side note: haven't seen the musical so i'm just referring to the anime/manga here

At 1:51 while Light is singing in between Soichiro's line where he says 'you don't load a gun, close your eyes, and shoot' Light *actually* says 'you don't close your eyes and shoot' to say that that's not what he's doing and he knows exactly where he's shooting.

Crazy how different the Japanese and English versions are, in the Japanese one it seems like Soichiro was pretty much telling Light to embody and become god, telling him to become Kira.

Lmao right? What Sochiro said: Become a god of morality and have faith in yourself as you remain a good person. What Light heard: *Become a god.*
@@itsjustvin7630 In his mind? That's all he ever was. A paragon of moral virtue, just a completely different form of it than the rest of us understand.

Michael Lanning Oh! You’re are amazing! Perfect Soichirou! I’m in love with your voice. Thank you so much for this great job! “There are the lines” is my favorite, but “Honor bound” made me cry on “if it is Kira that I see behind Light’s eyes”. Soichirou is such a good man, he didn’t deserve all of this Kira shit.

I have worked for composer Frank Wildhorn since March of 1996... I did one third of all the demos he wrote for the first Broadway show I was ever in, "The Civil War"...I also did "Bonnie & Clyde" (music & Lyrics hi Frank wildhorn and Don Black) on Broadway which is one of the better Broadway score as I've ever heard, to be quite Frank (pun intended!)

I love this song so much. It also works very well in the Alto range, so I've sung it for two separate auditions. It was super fun! And I also introduced the other actors to this musical. And they now love it.
