Well, after for many years reading that the film stock was too comprimised and that would preclude a HD edition of this great movie, I was thrilled to find on eBay a Blu-ray version that I did not think existed, with the cut pieces included, only not in HD. I have watched it, and sure enough it's Blu-ray, sort of. Sometimes the sound and picture don't quite match. But I'm sure glad someone made the effort. Where they got the film stock for the Blu-ray, I don't know.

It's from older SD transfers. The original film stock for these scenes fell apart afterwards, so this is all there is.

I knew they cut that scene out. I first watched this movie 30 years ago and now when you buy the DVD or watch it on TV it is cut out. Thanks, now I can die in peace...

Why in the devil was this cut in the first place? It closes the largest plot hole in the first third of the film! Who has been at this film with a hatchet anyhow? One song gone, and now this! Maybe somebody ought to put this movie back together rather than chopping the heck out of it!

Scene of Chill Wills the drunk nearly torching the gunpowder by accident is missing. When YT had the full movie on, they deleted a scene from the cattle capture and deleted the view of Wayne tossing the knife into Emil SAND.

The film is quite long: 2 hours and 56 minutes on KZbin. They probably tried to compress it to make it more watchable. I agree though, this scene shouldn’t have been deleted. We get suspense, see Bowie’s knife in action, and there’s even some comedy.

@@dauntless0711 i finally found and bought the totally uncut version , and watched it ......parson's death scene is also a great scene that shouldn't have been cut . this is a great movie and i finally have all of it !
