In general I like what the creators of anime and manga are doing with magical girls lately by making them a little more gritty. It is weirdly inspiring, because they are keeping most of their personality tropes (fighting for justice; being a pure example of kindness and love; and doing what they do because it just is the morally right thing) while also putting in realistic opposition and the likely opportunity of death. Before they would never die or get into a serious fight, but lately magical girl shows are beginning to display what powerful martyrs of justice and love they can become like with scenes such as this... It's really cool.

The first season/book is not as good and probably fits a bit, but after that there is a much better story. Sadly only the first book got an anime however soon (2024) the second and third book (restart I and II) will get an anime. The anime is basically about magical girls in the modern world. For example how magical girls abuse their powers to make money or turn other people into magical girls to use them as meat shields so they can escape. It also shows how magical girls and magic in general develops.

It's not gonna work with the same Mamika as the protagonist. It most likely will look like just another typical magical girl show. Pre-Re:Creators Mamika was from a classic magical girl show; no blood, no gore, no consequences for nuking entire blocks just to kill one villain. She didn't have the personality she developed after interacting with other characters. The Post-Re:Creators Mamika, who met with the new Alicetaria, is a different person. I'm not sure about her personality. Her story going forward could be more interesting since the author of her story could add original Mamika's character development to her personality and then change the tone of her story to closely match with shows like Madoka.
