The lore from this video is from the Magic Legends cycle Two, these books are Assassin's Blade, Emperor's Fist, and Champion's Trial By:Scott McGough. There was also a few semi deaths in Test of Metal where his fake Bolases where we never saw him directly die, but it was in different timelines(clock working), in which the fake bolas would take the dead bodies of the other Bolases to use as dragon zombies brought back by an army of Vesses.

Yeah, he might be cold and calculating, cunning and have vast knowlege, but being rash isn't entirely out of his character, remember there is a part of him that aligns with Red mana, and being a dragon, AND a sociopath I imagine once he's cornered and not getting his way, he lashes out in a very deadly fury.

The story of tetsuo umezawa, is one of the best. Tetsuo used bolas own tactics against him, tetsuo planned and played the game. Freaking honor bound, tetsuo is a beast!!!!!

As I recall it is strongly implied Tetsuo Umezawa is related to Toshiro Umezawa of Kamigawa. As I recall from the end of the novel Gaurdian the Myojin of Night's Reach shoved Toshiro into a Planar portal. Apparently from there Toshiro fell into one of the temporal instabilities that was plaguing Dominaria at the time. (Temporal instability, at the time, yeah kinda odd phrasing.)

This is my guess on on how the fight with bolas is going to go. They travel to amonkhet. They see bolas Liliana fights demon with Jace The gatewatcch are loosing Liliana and Jace come back They all work together and destroy a powerful god planeswalker with the power of FRIENDSHIP and LOVE and crap like that.

That is not a real issue. If they needed to be strong enough to do it, storytelling would make it so. With "they" I meant WotC. Currently Bolas is the only active big baddie they have, without any out-of-the-box fallback-option. I can see where they maybe try to build up Liliana over time, that she may go full evil (maybe even mad) once she manages to get rid of her pact. But other than that? Starting a believable supervillain from scratch is not so easy, and the few they have right now would need some serious work done on them, either power-wise (Tezzeret) or in terms of getting a sensible backstory (Emrakul) players could relate to.

Steven Network I'd say Gideon will die. His origin story has the all powerful being kill all his friends and leave him alive. it only makes sense for his redemption to be his self-sacrifice against another all mighty being on a plane ruled by gods.

Is there a connection between this tetsuo umezawa and the toshiro umezawa from Kamigawa? Because i loved toshiro. He was what made the Kamigawa books good enough to be standalone, without the MTG context.

If I remember right Toshiro was banished from Kamiwaga by the Myojin of the Night Reach and ended in Dominaria, Tetsuo is his descendant. Thats why in the time spiral block Nicol tries to kill the Myojin

I like hearing old stories like this. Still to win against the dragon himself , he is one of few to accomplish this. Still I doubt the gatewatch will be added to the list. They are going in blind where as Tetsuo had enough knowledge to scheme and plan. Still what consequences happened to bolas since his body was tied to the mana leylines and was destroyed.

Is it just me, or does Tetsuo not seem Grixis-aligned at all? Sure, black-aligned characters can be heroic, as seen in Toshi Umezawa, but then they're usually antiheroes, and this guy seems much more like a normal hero. His dislike of dishonorable tactics seems very white, and decidedly not black. Also, I'm not sure how well blue and red fit, although I could see them working.

Remember black aligned doesn't mean "evil" it's a selfish color meaning that while indeed Tetsuo despised dis-honorable tactics he still participated in the battle scourging a mostly peaceful village/conflicted zone to once again erupt into battles. In other words a "Black" or "Grixis" aligned hero could still believe in honorable combat but at the same time be unbelievably selfish in the reasons for said combat.

No, black still wouldn't believe in honor because black, while not necessarily evil, is an amoral color. Black will do whatever it takes to get what it wants, and ignores the moral objections of others, caring only about results. Black doesn't believe in honor because honor is a social construct designed to hold people back, and Black won't let any such construct get in the way of its goals. Black doesn't believe in constructs like morality and honor, and Tetsuo does.
