I think MAraad's death would have meant something if he shielded Durotan from the blast too. I think that would have been a good character arc and redemption for him to forgive an Orc and save him from death. Then the "in the light we are one" line would have meant a lot more.

Divine Intervention(if i remember ability name right) let you sacrifice your life on paladin to give friendly target invulnerability and combat leaving for 3 minutes. It is only single target skill. So i think its lore, not his thinkings of vengeance to Durotan.

As crazy as it sounds it's always possible they didn't get the voice actress to record that line on accident. They are professionals but accidents do happen. So by the time recording was done and the voice actress went hom they went to piece the game together and went "shit... we forgot to record the RAAAAGH"...... I cant think of any other reason as to why they'd recycle and emote instead of just getting the voice actress to do it than that.

Anyone else think there are way too many cheap deaths in this expac? Like, Maraad doesn't even get an epic fight. And the Thrall vs. Garrosh fight is soooo cheap, especially after what happened in SoO (I don't GAF what anyone says, our shammies did just fine down there!)

Your guild Shaman aren't empowered with the Earth Aspects superpower, making them basically a force of nature, susceptible to the elements being corrupted. Maraad's death was at the hands of the 2nd highest ranking member of the Iron Horde defending the City he failed to defend in our timeline until he was dead to give our invasion forces the time we needed to push Blackhand and his army back, saving Shattrath, as redemption arcs go, it was a damn good. And Thrall kicked Garrosh's ass beautifully >.>

Maraad's death was barely even seen. He still died like a bitch. You really just see the explosion then "oh, he's pretty much dead." Being empowered by an aspect should not have made him susceptible, that's a cop-out. In fact, realistically speaking everything the Horde does should basically make Thrall's "power" useless by that logic, seeing how, even under him, the Horde was ripping apart and destroying nature.

actually I think maraad using divine intervention was a perfectly fine death. they took that spell from us a long time ago because lorewise it was silly to do the "ultimate sacrifice to protect others" every hour or so. very cool concept, but it kinda loses its meaning. this scene perfectly embodies paladins, and more specifically maraad.

also forgot to mention that this death scene was also fitting with maraad's story. he failed in his duties to protect shattrath, and then again in protecting the refugees fleeing the falling city in the main timeline/universe. whereas in this universe/timeline he is able to do what he was charged to do.

Starting from the cinematic where you enter the portal along with Khadgar, Thrall and Maraad, you'd think Maraad would actually get some decent character development, but nope. This is just more proof of Blizzard's failure at storytelling. If a character might outshine Thrall, better kill him off before that happens. If anyone in the Alliance is more badass than some Horde character, better kill them off before that happens. Try as I might, I see no reason to kill off Maraad, because he is such a interesting character. There is little known about him, but you learn through quests his story, and for what? Dying on a ship... while no one else is effected by the blast? If Thrall doesn't die in a later patch, then it is quite obvious whom Blizzard favors... but then again, we already know that. I don't really care what anyone says, if any character needs to die and never come back, it is Thrall, he is simply a overused recycled jesus wannabe character that is boring beyond belief.

Degrastic Sorry, but the Horde favoritism is just to obvious, and it got old really really fast. Also, Horde don't sacrifice anything to help anyone but themselves, while the Alliance make heartbreaking sacrifices to save the world. Enough said.

Oluf The Explorer As a player of both factions, but primarily Alliance... Bullshit. What you're saying is bullshit. Maraad DID get character development, even in this trailer alone. Lords of War and the quests with him involved made it seem like he would stop at nothing to see the Iron Horde fall, save the remorse he felt over abandoning the civilians. That's especially since he's seeing the Orcs slaughter everyone he knew and loved for a second time, albeit likely more brutally this time around. Here, he could have saved himself and made sure that the Iron Horde fell, but instead he chose to sacrifice himself for Yrel's survival. And I'm sure part of that is also the fact that dialogue indicated MU Yrel was Maraad's love interest, and died when the Orcs overran Shadowmoon. It's removed now, since they didn't want to reduce Yrel to "Maraad's love interest," but still. Yrel herself is a badass, and recognizes that the Alliance and Horde need to work together to stop the greater threat - thus her healing of Durotan. Moreover, she went - pretty quickly - from oppressed civilian to rising leader of the Draenei resistance fighting the Iron Horde. Not to mention Thrall is hard to consider part of the Horde anymore, since he abandoned it to deal with the elements during Cataclysm. Even the Horde lost a lot of respect for him over leaving it with Garrosh, and Thrall himself realized in the same expansion that it was a terrible idea. They lost Cairne, as well, one of the Tauren's greatest leaders, and the Sunreavers were either slaughtered, imprisoned, or barely escaped Dalaran with their lives, meaning the Kirin Tor - an organization that has been neutral since WoW began - has suddenly become Alliance-biased, if not a subfaction of the Alliance. I swear to god, the more complaints about "Horde favoritism" I hear, the more I hate the fanbase. Also, don't expect Thrall to die. I loved him pre-Cata, hated him post-Cata, but it's Metzen's Green Jesus character that he gets to voice-act, so expect him to be around.
