The Cursed History of Desolace (World of Warcraft Lore)

Such a great story to tell I hope you all enjoy it! This lore behind this video is fantastic but it was a nightmare to put together, I tried to incorporate more and more modelling to tell the story and my pc simply cannot handle it, this was finally finished 8 minutes before I was leaving for the airport so didn’t have as much time as I hoped to check over it. We are currently working on upgrading some of the hardware used to create these tales, at the moment they are not edited by a frame to frame method instead of a live feed due to hardware capabilities so let me know if there are any issues with it down below! I spent hours and hours in desolace. There was just something about the ironic isolation you felt there during a time when players populated the world so heavily (20 years ago)

I quit early my first time in desolace when I got to the quest where you’re supposed to turn into a fire spirit thingy and wipe that encampment of elite mobs. I somehow missed the buff and spent hours trying to fight the elites as I was. I was young frustrated lol. Came back to it years later and got the full experience. One of my favorite zones to this day.

Some nice lore here, I always liked Desolace. I'd really love to see a good tribe of centaur as an allied race. Probably will never happen, but I think a little Mongolian type city would be a really fun addition to Kalimdor

Hey! As usual a great video! Decolace is sadly a very underrated zone for most players. It does hold alot of interesting stories for those who like that. I can only assume the low players rate here is due to how it was in classic (quests where a bit allover the place and some where very grindy) and the fact that it is located basicly far away from basicly anything. Personaly id say i prefere the new version but there are realy some gems in the classic one aswell. Best wishes from Sweden!

Very interesting underrated zone from vanilla to Cataclysm. It would be great if the zone was updated with the new creature models and buildings from legion, BFA and Dragonflight into a beautiful amazing zone in classic wow or retail current wow.

It’s kind of interesting that the Tauren are the result of different forms of Titan indirect intervention, and all their ancestor races too. Like, it shows how hardy the original non-mutated ancestor species of the Tauren were to undergo so much mutation, yet aside from cosmetic changes, essentially stayed a stable species

I have fond memories of this place. I thought it was a great leveling zone despite the lack of quests because it was so dense in camps of mobs to grind. I remember getting ao excited when they released Maradon as a instance because I did all the quests like blowing the horn in in the camp outside the instance before it was released and having to fight a summoned elite. Even the golbin mobs yelling in the zone that they were about to start their journey so you can hurry up and grab the quest to protect them was like the first ingame event that was only available at certain parts of the day. I realized I was in the minority of liking this zone when I suggested it to a friend to level in it and he couldn't stand it and left for 1k needles.

I think those are more tainted in general but desolace is tainted by more things: fel, void, rampant elements, uncontrolled plants, night elves, goblins

@@ComicalConqueror Sure it has more variety, but overall Desolace is realy just a big devastated zone. Sure has its pockets of demon infestation (the og one) but the vast majority is just dried out land. And the newer version just added a center of lush land created i guess from the Emeral Dream. Felwood is a giant swamp of fel goo. So corrupted by demonic forces that the treants have been twisted and the ancients petrified.

for me it was the Plaguelands, Felwood looked like it got half saved by Illidan, it wasn't completely corrupted

@@Ar1AnX1x Vanilla Felwood was completely corrupted. To the point there was just 1 safe spot where the quest givers were. And i dont remember if it even had a fly path. Plaguelands vanilla always had the Light's Hope Chapel, the AD towers, the Scarlet strongholds, the elven place... several uncorrupted spots :)
