The way Simon said Linnet...... I think that's basically the final proof that he actually couldn't stand her....in the book he found her bossy and controlling....

This cast had the best love triangle. Mia Farrow is the best Jackie of them all. She captures the psychology of the chatacter the best. I listen to the audio book and I always see her as Jackie. Simon MacCorkindale captures the true Simon Doyle. He is aristocratic, goal orientated, and arrogant. Lois Chiles captures Linette the best. Only complaint is that Linette is a Blonde in the book. Can't have them all.

@Unownshipper2 жыл бұрын
Meh... the new one proved to be kind of forgettable. Too much time focused on Branagh to focus on the other characters sufficiently, the pacing never really found its groove, and for a high production value period piece it was grossly unconcerned with historic authenticity making it feel hollow and artificial.

She'd be happy with him living on less than he wanted, but it wasn't enough for him. When they could both see that Linnet was trying to steal Simon away from Jackie - apparently she was making it kind of obvious - Jackie actually suggested that he marry Linnet instead of her but he didn't want that because it'd be "hell" being married to her. Jackie did love him, just in a wrong way.
@rajinder2k44 жыл бұрын
@@agenttheater5 that's exactly what I'm saying, that that's the benchmark, that's the proof, that the thing we're referring to is love and not attachment or preference or compromise or the maximization of endorphins or promises or mutual comforting or stubbornness or anything else... There is no "wrong way" to love there is love or not love/something else.

Yeah - check out the final moments of the film when he is musing with David Niven before they disembark.
@Unownshipper2 жыл бұрын
Checking for gunpowder is certainly real nowadays, but it wouldn't have been possible back in those days. The test he described is 100% bogus, the materials to check for the particles wouldn't have been available on a commercial riverboat, and simply washing your hands would've removed the powder which probably would've happened at least once over the course of the investigation.

@@lukasmiller486 Well they may tweak it this time around. Kenneth Branagh made changes for Murder on the Orient Express. In terms of tone one of the biggest changes was the reveal. For the older Murder on the orient it was played more as a credit to Poirot's genius. The new version was focused more on the tragedy of the murder and reveal. The film may be done like that as well.
@ChinmayKashid4 жыл бұрын
It's even more depressing in the novel. Jackie's confession is handled more delicately by Agatha Christie. And the last smile she gave towards Poirot had a meaning in the novel. I seriously urge all of you to read the novel. She and Poirot had a special connection. It's more apparent in novel
