It's at that awkward in-between tempo where it's a little fast (but doable) for sustained thumb but too slow to use my two-finger tremolo technique 😅

Hell yeah great job! That picking technique with your thumb is really clean sounding, bery impressive. I like all eras of Death, but something about Leprosy hits me the best. Would love to see your take on Choke on It one day. Lots of oddball changes on that song.

Isn't it amazing how much easier double thumbing becomes when you start thinking about striking _past_ the string rather than _into_ it?
@LindenPoirier11 ай бұрын
100%! I'm reminded of that when I try thumping on the high C string and there's nothing to catch my thumb on the downstroke, lol.

@@LindenPoirier yea its definitely something that needs some practice. I can go pretty fast with it but I do lack the precision for more complex parts.

@@NewAeonWarlord When I get my guitar back, I'd like to figure out a way of using that technique in conjunction with palm muting. Not sure how, but it'd be worth it to avoid the long process of getting fast with a pick lol

Awesome! Having just bought a bass guitar and I was figuring this song out, I found this video! Awesome and very helpful! Are you a lefty or did you mirror this because you're smart? Because I found it very helpful to have a mirror image instead of watching a right-handed bassist playing this. And another question, why do you play (at the end) D7 D3 D8 and no G2 D3 G3? Newb question maybe...
@LindenPoirier11 ай бұрын
Thanks for reaching out, glad it's helped you! Yes, I am a real lefty, and the main reason I played it that way is for tonal consistency, since I like the way the D string sounds and feels more. I also like the way it looks more in video, but that's trivial. Both are perfectly fine ways of playing it and if you're still getting comfortable with the fretboard, the G2 D3 G3 way is definitely gonna be more consistent.

You double thumb it; I just use hold onto my pointing finger with my thumb and "fu" finger, and strum like a maniac. I dig your style, you know this.
@LindenPoirier Жыл бұрын
Ah, that would work well too! I should try that sometime, probably utilizes the same muscles involved with standard guitar picking more so than double thumbing.
@patrickgonzalez3806 Жыл бұрын
@@LindenPoirier Yes, I find double thumb tricky for "super" fast playing, I think I need to practice it more, but I'm comfortable using the maniac style I was talking about with my pointy finger. My thing I have to work on as a bass player, is strumming a consistent note for a long time using my fingers; it's the only reason I bring this up. (I believe the ladies love it too for different reasons) Thanks for the inspiration.

i came for a bass cover only to find another video where the bass is mixed too low to actually hear anything interesting from the player. this almost sounds like the studio version so why even bother if you arent gonna actually show off your ability to play the song and bury yourself under the mix.
