Mostly because weapons are unable to depress their armaments, the rear of the car is low enough to cover the tires too. Also possbile it would make them uneccessarily heavy, thats my 2 cents atleast

Not really no, they wouldn’t go fast but they could still keep speed to an extent, besides most of those weapons that they have would cut through the armour they have put on the cars in a few seconds so kinda pointless to have any armour besides the rear in my opinion unless you have someone with a rear facing mini gun on their car

@@madrustytiger The weapons are a little op but i guess they just wanted it to look cool back then. Miniguns? And not with 9mm but what seems to be a rifle sized bullet by the casing dropped when firing. Thats just a little too much. It will chip armor until its done. Also the cars that have these should be slower since they also carry enough ammo to fire that shit for like a minute. And the RPGs ? RPGS?? LIKE IF IM A PSYCHO I CAN JUST BLOW THE PRISON UP. HES GOT LIKE 8 OF EM

Lmao no sure they would go much slower but not that slow...some tanks are 60 TONNES 800 hp (same as the mustang in this movie) they go 60-70kph while these cars are barely 6 tonnes at max.pretty sure they can go far beyond 200kph lol

They'd still be able to top out pretty fast, they're suped the fuck up but I don't know about drifting lol. Jason's Mustang has 3 inch plates on the sides and front and then the 6 inch tombstone on the back, that'd be ridiculously heavy.

One thing that has bothered me is the tombstone is 6 inches thick, around 150mm. The tiger 1 from WW2 has front armor equal to 102mm. You're telling me through one race with a bunch of people firing their 7.62 or 12.7mm rounds that a 6 inch plate is gonna fall off? That must be some soft metal right there. The front and sides are 0.75 inches thick, around 20mm. That would be shredded in seconds. Tombstone? Not so much. In reality, after Jensen pulled his little stunt with pachinko, he'd be ground meat. So would pachinko, that bulletproof glass is only bulletproof for the so many rounds and even if it did hold up, pachinko wont be able to see jack shit because his windshield would have so many cracks. Jensen didnt need smoke, he just had to shoot the windshield. Now just as a little thought experiment. Wouldn't it be better to angle that armor a little? It is almost completely flat in the movie, which forces bullets to chip away at it, but these are not tank rounds. Up the angle a little and these bullets will ricochet off without chipping so much off the armor. Hell, you wont even need 6 inches. 6 inches isnt even enough to stop RPGs anyway, so why put 6 inches if it is overkill for the application in the movie and it cant even protect against RPGs?

@@comdrive3865 Yeah but its still 150mm of armor. For reference, the 30mm gun on the A10 can penetrate 100mm of steel. This is one and a half times that. These cars are using guns far weaker than the A10's and somehow, the armor disintegrates.
