Here is a tall order…It would be cool to make a video, listing similar games on the market and coming soon. Gaslands & Thunder Road being the big 2, (you could include Car Wars and Apocalypse Road as well) then compare and contrast each one. 1) What’s the highlight feature for each 2) How are they similar or are they? 3) Strategic vs. Fun 4) Variety and choices available as well as impact of decisions and abilities 5) Setup time & length of play 6) Comparison to popular media: Death Race, Mad Max, Twisted Metal, Mario Kart, Burnout Revenge

This looks like the Car Wars game I wanted. I was disappointed in the actual Car Wars Kickstarter. That was the one that got me into pledging for games though. This also looks Hot Wheels scale. Customising them would be insane and there should be focus on being able to do that. Gaslands did this and is awesome! Reminds me I’m still looking for some gas-dice…

I'm in the same boat. I had the Quackalope gameplay in another tab planning on eventually watching it and I figured I might as well watch Alex's review and sure enough, I'm now backing it. I'll have to actually watch that gameplay video after work. Haha.

Thanks for reviewing this game, it really seems to be a game that can fit in my collection, a strategic game that play and feel like a party game sound awesome for a spin with the kids (or maybe some drinking pals XD), also the "Mad Max" feel and Death Rally vibes I really digit (I couldn't care less about racing games) but this look dope, thank for the great review I will wait to the last days to see al the content that they can reach but I'm pretty sure I will be backing this. PS: I feel that you left out an important thing in the review and that's it "Price Range with shipping for the value", beside that excellent review like always, keep the good work.

This sounds fun; it seems like a more abstract, boardgamer-y version of Gaslands. For me nothing beats the hobby aspects (kitbashing & 3d printing terrain and making beat-up, tricked out hot wheels cars) of Gaslands but this seems to have a lot of the same crazy elements. Swerving and sliding can be dangerous but tactically important, the faster you are going the more dangerous it gets, etc.

GASLANDS definitely for the win. Didnt know about the TR reboot, and oh, Restoration Games, very interesting. Return to Dark Tower hasnt shipped yet, so dont really know how brilliant it and the team are.

This game is getting in before the ThunderRoad re-do, so nice timing. The OG ThunderRoad was a big favorite of mine, but I may go for this instead of trusting Restoration Games to take an old property and do some awesome with it (cause, letdowns).

This is very similar to a 2018 KS game called Devil's Run (www.kickstarter.com/projects/wordforgegames/the-devils-run-route-666/description) which I bought. I'm still interested in this game as it has a few features which looks like an improvement.

I had been interested in this game when I first saw it, as I'm designing my own racing game that shares a few similar items, but differs a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed it, as I was hoping this would be a fun, chaotic game. I might message the devs with a possible way to deal with player elimination that I came up with, see if they like the idea or not, although the way things work, they might have already had the idea. There is no such thing as a unique idea.

So those cars just basically stand statically on the board the whole game? I think I would prefer Gaslands, where you actually move the cards on the table. Sounds way more fun.

Looks like your cars are on a 4x5 grid that they move around on and if they go one space out of bounds bad things happen. Unless you're in the lead moving up.

Sounds like a really good game. How much depth does the deck building give this game? I'd also like to know if you think that some cars are stronger than others. How is the balancing in this game? And most importantly will there be a gameplay vid?

Oh wow... To include PLAYER ELIMINATION as a LITTLE nitpick which YOU didn't like, Instead of what you see other don't like..? The publisher is probably very pleased 👀

Anything in the "what I don't like" can obviously be included in what others don't like as well. Both sections are meant to call out things that might be a problem for you, but the latter section doesn't personally bother me. Including it in what I don't like is worse, it means not only is it a potential problem for you but I also don't like it.

Player elimination - sorry, this is a snowflake issue especially when they have a timer to then end the game. Unless it is for young children this should not be a minus for a game, just to be made aware of for the people who haven't got the patience to watch for a short time.

There's no timer to end the game. They just measured on average how long before the game ends after player elimination and it was 10 minutes. So probably sometimes longer, sometimes shorter. In any case, it's not a snowflake issue. A lot of gamers don't like player elimination, and that's totally legit and worth pointing out.

I personally don’t mind player elimination but I can understand why it’s an issue, depending on the skill level of the other players what are you suppose to do for the rest of the time? Monopoly for example, you could be out and the game continues for another hour
