Many serial killers you get the impression that they were miserable broken individuals, Edmund Kemper even turned himself in, requested the death penalty and waived several parole hearings. Makes me remember the guy I met on a date. It still happens all the time. Nobody saved me and when I said something since I was a bad kid they thought I deserved it. It never worked. I turned into a troubled kid and mad at everybody because when I cried for help nobody did anything. I wanted everybody to pay for letting me slip through the cracks But thank god for medicine that finally worked. I would have been a killer too. I was about to murder my mom, every single day I thought about it, I started abusing her too. It was just a matter of time. But medication caught up faster. It feels good not to be controlled by my past because of medicine

@John Doe I wouldn't say that evil powers protected Ramirez. As vile as he was when he was alive, he still had constitutional rights. What protected him was due process and, from law enforcement's perspective, apparently a strong conscience not to hurt him while he was in custody. As for not being hurt while on death row, that's not surprising. You have to remember that Ramirez shared space with other scumbags like him. Martin Kipp is a glaring example.

What’s crazy to me is that he actually has a certain charisma that would have been taken as likable. He’s very intelligent, there is an underlying handsomeness I can see and oddly enough he’s very soft-spoken. What lies directly beneath all of that is the stuff of nightmares.

I remember it has something to do with them not accidentally putting someone to death in the case they got the wrong person. That's why they wait so long. Unfortunately, it backfires in cases where they do have the proof that they have the right person.
