Death Star Construction Timelapse

This video is a personal project (fan film) created by myself and my FX-guru brother Isaac Botkin. He planned and crafted all the visuals in Lightwave 3D, and I composed the original score in Cubase Pro. The goal was to come up with an original melody, but keep it very much within the style and flavor of John William's iconic Star Wars scores. It was mentioned in Rogue One:A Star Wars Story that the Death Star was capable of making the jump to hyperspace and one thing I always wondered and that was just how freaking huge the Death Star's hyperdrive systems must be to move something the size of a class 4 moon through hyperspace must be pretty impressive and an imazing feat of engineering for the engineers who were in charge of that part during the Battle Stations construction.

Although this construction sequence makes way more sense, it seems that in the movies they built it 'end to end' instead of 'skeletal to complete' if that makes any sense. in RotJ the 2nd death star is being built, but there was no initial frame, as if they built it from one end to the other. which, to an engineer, would be hilariously stupid. props for being smarter than the empire XD

To be fair, Galen Erso always intended for it to be blown up. Also if Luke hadn't been there and used the Force it would never have happened, since during the first attack run the torpedoes merely impacted the surface. DekuGames if it were tidally locked it’d be on the same path as the moon. It could be easily solved by having a couple ships temporarily attached and boosting it back into orbit if atmospheric drag were to start affecting it(the ISS has a small thruster for exactly this problem), it probably would start being dragged as it’s so large. But other than that there’s nothing really going to mess with other than probably the gravity of the moon messing with its orbit. It would however cause weird tides on earth if it was built as close as shown in the video.
