When the sun goes down in Death Valley, there's over 100 miles with no light pollution. For filmmaker/photographer Harun Mehmedinović, that makes it the perfect place for seeing the night sky.

We were there back on Nov 4th 2021 while it was a new moon. Darkest time of the month and you could literally see EVERYTHING. You could see the milky way clear as day.

This video made me really emotional. Stargazing was a significant part of my childhood, one that is hard to share with my kids with light pollution and hazy skies. The ability to connect to the night sky is precious. Thank you for this video ❤️ I'd also recommend the book The Disordered Cosmos by Chanda Prescod- Weinstein.

This "... Immense Darkness" ... isn't "dark", at all. The Universe is Lit!! Trillions upon trillions of Stars ... Suns, are forever saturating the Ether with Light.

not forever, pretty much all stars in the universe have already been born, meaning there won’t be much more. after all the stars die there will be neverending nothing, until another singularity shows up starting the cycle again

Death Valley is less than 4hrs outside of downtown LA so odds are you're closer to those stars than you realize. Google best start gazing spots in your area and enjoy! If you can.

I love stargazing so much! I grew up in rural Texas from elementary school through high school and never realized how special it is to be able to go outside and just look at the night sky. I took it for granted and now I want to be out in the dark as often as I can. If you can find a truly dark sky (Bortle scale 1 or 2), it'll blow your mind! Like this gentleman in the video said, it forces you to stare up, daydream, meditate, and soak it all in. Very special experience under the stars!

i remember many years ago when i was a child i look up in front of my house, i saw many stars grazing, but nowadays after big buildings has been built around my house no grazing stars are visible. i remember there wea a star formation like a kite, its very tranquil to watch it.

We were in Death Valley in February this year as part of a two month escape from our Canadian winter. By far the most amazing and moving part of our US trip. The night sky adds a whole other universe to the remarkable landscape of Death Valley. Your time lapse photos are outstanding. Thanks for sharing.

I have been lucky enough to grow up in an area with little light pollution, it gets worse every year, but I can still see the milky way and lots of other stars that most can’t. I can go to the top of a hill just outside of town (population 150) and it is magical! I also enjoy the night sky in the local cemetery at night. Peaceful!!!! 4 generations of my ancestors are there.

Death Valley is one of the most beautiful and scary places. To be honest I never understood why those who throw burning man moved it to Nevada from Bakers Beach and not to Death Valley.

Saddest words for me to hear: the last dark space. The only place in America without artificial light for 100 miles.😢 The addiction to artificial lighting, used to keep us ever busy and active, is yet another form of civilization’s “first world” destruction. We are truly missing so much of the earth’s, or the world and space’s, beauty.

Same for me. I live in Fort Worth, TX, but luckily can get to some really dark skies in about 1.5 to 2 hours drive west from my home. Hopefully you can do the same (2-3 hours or more if able).

While the photography is beautiful, and your philosophical meanderings about most people's detachment from nature are useful reminders, , I am disappointed that you didn't teach me anything photographically.
