I didn't agree at first, but Zatanna just has so much more experience with actually CONTROLLING her power at the high end of things. Pretty much all of Wanda's big feats are when she's literally at her breaking point and she can't just harness that all the time.

An angry Fire Mage, for example, is obviously dangerous, especially with their passion fueling their powers. But a disciplined Fire Mage won't only be able to control their emotion, they can think up various effective ways such as fire bolts for single targets, flamethrowers for crowds and buildings, etc.

I already pointed out how Wanda would not limit herself by saying no more sound. Instead she would take advantage of the situation and Say no more magic. The issue is that we have to look at the rules of Magic as set forth in both Universes. Under the rules of Magic in Marvel (how they always potrayed magic) Wandas powers are not actually magic in nature. She learned magic to help hone and enhance her natural abilities but they are not technically magic. This is why she not only was given a false positive on the X-gene but also registered as an OMEGA level mutant. Even false the only other being powerful enough to register under that level falsely is the Pheonix Force. So like in my comments on this Wanda wins because at the end of the day she really is far more powerful. Zantana requires artifacts to casst her spells without verbalization (same as all creatures in DC do.) So looking at the rules of magic in both universes Wanda technically won.

Random Zatanna Facts (because I love her): It is never usually her entire sentence backwards, it's just the individual words (ie: levitate me = etativel em, not em etativel) if the entire sentence is backwards, that means she's putting just a tiny bit more effort into beating your a$s. It has been stated multiple time that Zatanna is not using her full potential, even during her greatest feats. Due to the fact her father had magic, not all of Zatanna's magic comes from her mother, it's just enhanced in comparison to her father's. I think it's interesting that their mental state affects them in pretty much opposite ways: For Zatanna, losing confidence directly impacts the scope of her powers. The less sure she is about winning, the lower her chances. Wanda on the other hand only ever dares to tap into her larger supply of powers when she's desperate. The more her mental state deteriorates, the more risks she's willing to take with her potentially volatile abilities. If the fight had dragged on, the scales may have tipped in the Scarlet Witch's favor - but she has to overcome a huge hurdle to get there...

And the fun fact is: Zatanna never used Dark Magic, which means she is always playing by the rules when characters who use Dark Magic claimed theirselves to be weaker than Zatanna. By the way, that feat of Wanda saying "No More Voice" can only be casted using the Life Force or if she access her full potential (due to Wanda being a Nexus Being, she should be in Universal level naturally in full control of her powers), but don't be shy because if Wanda reaches her full potencial so will Zatanna and Nightmare Nurse herself said Zatanna doesn't take advantage of a fraction of her own power.

However, following this statement of yours, Zatanna could also explore Wanda’s limitation in which is her dependent of gesturing to cast spells. The only time she didn’t use any gesture it was the No More Mutants event (even when she had the Life Force, she used to gesture) but Zatanna showed she doesn’t need to say backwards a bunch of time unlike Wanda. Zatanna is my favorite DC babe, but she also is powerful AF. Its wild how unknown she is as a character to people that are not comic fans, and even then I have known people that really don't know who she is that are. They think she is just some trickster. Really, based on what I learned about Darkseid and Zatana, Zatana just seems more than powerful enough to beat Darkseid. Which is a problem if he's supposed to be the ultimate big boss of the DC universe.

A lot of people are sleeping on Zatanna because she doesn't have any recent live action appearances. Scarlet Witch is definitely a beast when it comes to raw power but so is Zatanna. Both of them are universal threats without morals. The powers of their magic are incalculable. I was expecting it to be a tie IMO, but it could go either way.

I think Wanda is stronger in terms of raw power, but Zatanna is more skilled(kinda like Wanda and strange). It’s a toss up, but personally I would say Wanda would probably win. Though I agree that Zatanna is underestimated. One thing I think we can all agree on is that a battle between Wanda, Zatanna, and Jean Grey is definitely needed!😂

Honestly I love that during the battle, zatanna was often playing it cool and from the looks of it, more often than not getting on Wanda’s nerves. She never looked like she was unstable in terms of her behavior and combat prowess, while Wanda from how she acted seemed to get more unstable over time, getting more angry, and seemed to emphasize more on power than anything, no combat skill, capabilities, or even magic skills, nada. While Wanda might’ve had the same level of power, she didn’t have the same level of control or combat skills as zatanna. So honestly the battle made more sense and believable, and honestly while her power was absurd scarlet witch had a massive weakness, that often at her peak, she is unstable and not always there in the head, while I think more dangerous, she was a lot more vulnerable to things. So the results weren’t that far off, zatanna can be de powered but if she’s just emotionally down but Wanda would’ve had to have known ahead of time which wouldn’t really work and be fair, so the battle was really well done and probably some of death battle’s best

That's what I've been saying to people who are going on about how powerful Wanda is. It doesn't really matter if you're so angry you can't do anything but lash out. Yeah, you may get a hit in and probably do some damage, but if you lose the ability to focus on more than just hurting your opponent, you're not going to have much of a chance of winning. You also have to consider Wanda's mental instability vs. Zatanna's focus. We see it time and again in Death Battle and beyond, the powerful fighter bested by the more clever, probably smaller one because the more clever one antagonized the more powerful one into making a fatal mistake. That's what happened here because Wanda, with or without completely losing her head, let herself get angry and focus more on trying to kill Zatanna than even trying to worry about what else her opponent can do. In a battle of magic, that's something you can't do.

I’m a big fan of Scarlet Witch and wasn’t that familiar with Zatanna, so I had no idea Zatanna was that powerful. I really enjoyed the backstory. With both almost unlimitedly powerful, you are right. Wanda’s mental issues would tip the scales against her. “Who is the more interesting character?” Is the more interesting question to me, and very subjective. Zatanna is more interesting than I thought though.

Zatanna is one of those characters who has the same potential as wanda or even more but never gets shown truly unless you read comics. Zatanna is basically she can do whatever she wants and she will do it with a smile while putting on a show. Just like when she was in a fist fight she used her magic so she would have the same capability as black canary fighting. Canary is an amazing fighter even batman himself has said. If DC put in the same effort as marvel then characters like zee wouldn't be forgotten and underestimated because she isn't shown much or shown what she can truly do.
