A few issues I have with DB's logic here: Assuming Helios is anything to scale to. It's not clear that he's faster than light (doesn't appear to be so in gameplay at all). It seems more like he has "administrative privilege'" over the sun/sunlight, rather than powers comparable to the sun/light. Further, the world tree is not the universe iirc. It's the 9 realms, but those are not all of existence (like Greece). Shaking it isn't anywhere near as impressive as the things DLC Asura does. I'm pretty sure "all of creation" refers to the creation that the Norse gods call home, which is.....hard to determine, but it feels safe to say it's not Iceland but universe sized :P. Kratos beating guys who beat guys is also hardly a win. We don't know if Kronos got weaker since puking up gods and being shackled. Finally and most importantly, we're ignoring some serious Gurren Lagann logic. Asura's greatest accomplishents are not even accomplished in his most impressive form (on paper). The ability to surpass with your wrath goes beyond forms and stuff. Asura gets mad enough to beat up the creator in some subspace place without his ultimate form. Same was Simon just beats down the Antispiral after pulling each successive form of GL out of TTGL :P. This is hard to quantify for vs battles, but it speaks for a certain IT factor that goes beyond "lol you got your mantra drained" and all that. Still, I appreciate they acknowledge this in the alt ending

Then Kratos soloed Thor, and went on to challenge Odin who, apart from Kratos needing help to avoid binding spells, had all his magic countered by Kratos' arsenal - and this is supported by gameplay, every magical offense can be negated by Kratos' weapons, and all of Odin's magic barriers can also be broken by Kratos' weapons. Kratos managed to cover his eyes before the light of helios blinded him, the same light that encompasses all the realms whom all are infinite, making it an inf speed feet to block his eyes before a light that moves at infinie speed reaches his eyes Not in the sense of out speeding helios himself, helios isn't that fast, his light is due to being the sun god. Also kratos killed the concept of death, something asura can't do... Kratos revives instantly due to circumstance caused by his curse (the one Athena put on him to make him always unable to die.) so no matter the means, he can't actually die. He'll pop right back up, while asura on the other hand takes centuries to tens of thousands of years to get back up, and he manages to do his revives only due to the golden spider aka Chakravartin.

So, as both a God of War fan and an Asura's Wrath fan, I feel like some details have been left out or blown out of proportion. So here's some information that wasn't mentioned in this Death Battle breakdown: 1. Asura's Unlimited Mode: Something that wasn't mentioned was while Asura is in this state, he becomes invulnerable to all attacks and damage. As shown at the end of the game, no matter how hard Chakravartin hit him, Asura could not be harmed. And by the end of the game, he can access this state indefinitely. Meaning no matter how hard Kratos hits him, he shouldn't get hurt. 2. Asura is Not all Muscle: Asura has show to be good at strategy, and be capable of adapting to his situations. When playing the game, you have several opportunities to utilize the enemies mechanics against them such as redirecting ranged attacks back, using your speed and size to avoid Wizens attacks, and using quick time events to outright counter or parry enemies hits. Even if Kratos's arsenal is superior, there's nothing stopping Asura from turning Kratos's own weapons back at him. And given he has thousands of years more of battle experience, this shouldn't be difficult. 3. Limitations: Something that some people are not taking into consideration is the full extent of Asura's and Kratos's limits. For Kratos, while his full potential is considered immensely vast, it's not limitless. In both the novels and in games, we have no confirmation that he has unlimited potential, in fact, we have evidence that supports the opposite. Take for instance Kratos's fight with Thor. He showed visible signs of fatigue and exhaustion from both fights. Even if he was holding back, so too was the God of Thunder in their first encounter. And there second fight, we know Thor had the potential to kill him because of the prophecy. Even Kratos confirmed himself that Thor was the strongest foe he ever faced. However, for Asura, he doesn't have a limit. When fighting Chakravartin in his final form, the creator was able to overpower Asura's final form with just a finger. Yet, by the end of their battle, he could barely faze him with even his strongest punches. This is because Asura's powers and strength were increasing exponentially very quickly. So even if Kratos is initially stronger, Asura would inevitably surpass him. 4. Kratos's encounters with Atlas, Helios, and Cronos: To start off, each respected realm for each pantheon is not the size of a universe. So, Atlas holding up a universe is not correct. Instead, he is just holding up the realm of Greece. Each region has its own primordial beginning, which was done separately from one another. Kratos would not have been able to casually leave the Greeks reality if that was the case, especially given that Tyr needed a special artifact in order to travel between the different regions. While he did have the strength to bind Atlas with the chains, this was by no means a universal feat. For Helios, I think it's fair to say that was one of Kratos's easiest kills, given the sun god was practically immobilized after his fight with one of the Titans. So to say he can scale in speed with him is ridiculous. Even if we compare him to Hermes, he never outright caught up to him. Hermes was being cocky and arrogant, and it resulted in him getting injured, allowing Kratos to fight him on even footing. Before that, Kratos couldn't hit him or catch him. Then finally, Cronos. Cronos was no longer in his prime when Kratos fought him. He had endured years of torture and subjugation by being forced to carry the mountain-sized temple on his back. There's even a scene in God of War One where modern-day humanity finds the titan's corpse still clinging to the temple. And when Cronus fought his father, he, too, was weakened. Cronos and Gaia worked together and severed Uranus's "manhood," which drastically and understandably weakened him. And when Zeus challenged Cronos, he had the help of the other Olympians, making it an unfair fight. It was not a one vs one situation. So to say that Kratos can beat Uranus because he could beat Cronus and Zeus is not a fair comparison. 5. Mixing Mythology with the Game: There is a lot of missing information in the God of War games. We know they don't accurately represent the mythologies they are based on. Especially when you compare some of the gods to their religious counterparts in personality, looks, and their supposed abilities. Even some gods are outright never mentioned or never included in the games or novels, such as Odin's brothers. So I've found that a lot of people use the actually mythology to fill the blanks, even when they're is no evidence that supports this. Such an example is with Yggdrasil and the realms it holds. We have no confirmation on how big each realm is or how big the tree itself is in God of War, yet a lot of people want to say that they're each their own universe. The most likely correct size is that each realm is the size of a planet, with the World Tree representing a pocket reality that connects them. This is because Midgard is supposed to represent Scandinavia and, by extension, the Earth. It wouldn't make sense for the other eight realms to be the size of universes. So while Ragnarok's feat of shaking the tree is still impressive, it's nowhere near as comparable to Chakravartin, Who has created his universe, possibly others, and has the capability to destroy them also. And for us who have played both games, there is no competition between these two, which is a comment I'm finding from both fandoms. This was a great fight, but I don't agree with the outcome. Which is fine, we all have our opinions and takes Edit: Now that I'm thinking about it, we may already have proof that Asura is close to and possibly stronger than Kratos, thanks to Death Battles analysis. It's a stretch, but it's only fair to mention it. Of course, I could be wrong with my math, so I understand if I'm quickly corrected on this if I'm wrong. Remember Wiz and Boomstick's math on Asura's strongest punch, being comparable to destroying the universe 91,000 times over? Well, we know Chakravartin can block a blow with that much force with just his finger. Now, doing some math, a humanoid finger makes up about roughly one percent of the body. I know this isn't going to be an exact estimate because Chakravartin isn't human-shaped, and this measurement varies from person to person, but for fairness, we'll round that to one percent exactly. Now, if we take into account Asura's actual strongest hit, when he drove his fist into the god's stomach and made that explosion, it was powerful enough to fracture Chakravartin's entire body. In order to do that, Asura would have to exert a superior amount of force on each percent of the 99 percent of the god's remaining body to do that level of damage all at once. So, if we multiply 91,000 by 99, we get a punch worth 9009000 universal destructions. Which is around or slightly more than Death Battle's estimate for Kratos's supposed strength. You can take this with a grain of salt, but I figured I'd make this observation.

Kratos matched Thor's strength in direct combat, who could battle Ragnarok and Jormungandr at the same time, knocking the latter through time when he tried hard enough. And then we have a second character who also is able to match Ragnarok, delaying the destruction of Asgard that is felt across all of Yggdrasil, who at best is Kratos's equal. If Mike Tyson traded punches with another boxer, their strength matching against each other, your complaint would be that the other boxer isn't as strong as Mike Tyson just because he hasn't personally performed the same strength feats for a camera.

If we are to take these numbers, and assuming they are at their prime, Kratos should have never been able to even touch Asura. as Asura was dodging these beams coming at him while traveling at such blistering speeds himself. It does not matter Kratos's other stats if he cannot simply touch him. This would not even be similar to how red rush fought agaisnt omniman either. They sometimes tweak their logic to favor the more popular character, and since Kratos is from God of War, a much bigger franchise than Asura’s Wrath, they probably wanted to make him win for engagement. A lot of their reasoning was shaky-like saying Asura has a limit when his whole thing is that his wrath keeps pushing him beyond any limit. They also downplayed how ridiculous Asura's power scaling is. He straight-up punches a god so hard that he shatters the fabric of reality. Honestly, I really liked this death battle, but I feel like there were better feats for Kratos´s power, strenght and speed that would feel less stretched than the ones Wiz and Boomstick mentioned, like: - Defeating and overpowering Thanatos, who is a primordial. - Kratos overcoming Hercules despite the latter being confirmed in the novelization to have lifted the world for Atlas in order to continue his tasks, even Kratos said that it was all of creation in a dialogue of the valhalla DLC. - Closing the realm tears, which are literaly tears in the fabric of reality, with just brute strenght, all said by Sindri. - Managing to outclash Thor, who packs a hit that splintered Yggdrasil and shook all the 9 realms, said by Mimir and Freya. - This feat was said in the video but I feel there is more to remark, Kratos is definetily far superior to Freyr, who could stop Ragnarok´s attack that not only shook Yggdrasil to it´s roots but also destroyed Asgard´s branch and scattered it´s remains across the other realms. - On speed Kratos could tag a tired Hermes who could still dodge Helios´s light but also Kratos could dodge and parry Zeus´s lighting attacks, which are fast enough to blitz Hermes (Gow II novelization) There are two more speed feats that could be kept in mind but might be a bit doubtful when compared to the previous one tho: - Kratos eventually managed to match and hit Heimdall, who could casually parry Atreus´s arrows, said arrows can travel fast enough to reach the sun in 3 seconds as seen when they wake up the wolves. - Kratos can parry and dodge the magic energy blasts from Artropos, a sister of fate, the same magic that allows her to send projections of herself that are stated in the GoW II novel as having "infinite journey speed". Also, if we are taking both of them at their peak, I think the power of Hope should be here too, considering that not only it gives Kratos a boost but it could´ve allowed him to kill Athena´s ghost along with the Blade of Olympus, despite that she was in a "higher plane of existence", which is probably a better argument on how Kratos could put Asura down.

I think Hope would have been the same argument for the Matra core for Asura. Ultimately both are kinda cheating, or they equal out. They’re basically just steroids for both of them and the only true reason for Asura to get his big Form was for production Value and (realistically) Asura could get angry enough to achieve it if he had enough rage. Kratos is mostly inconsistent with his power, he, who is intent on killing anyone who gets in his way once struggled fighting his best spartan soldier who isn't even established to be anything but a mortal in GoW2. It also took him awhile to kill Icarus as well, who is just a crazy mortal with no special powers. Meanwhile, Asura has flew in space, ripped apart large battleships, kills a planet sized god, and then fought the creator of his verse. Its just facts. However, fiction is fiction and Death Battle usually sets aside antifeats or their weakest showings, personally it does not matter to me who wins, though while I will root for Kratos, I predict Asura has a better chance of winning if we go by visual feats shown in their games. I could be right or wrong after the fight is released. If Kratos gets to be analyzed and power scaled using lore, the same should be done with Asura.

The death battle crew kinda had a bias here. Kratos beat Helios by shooting a crossbow into him and Helios was injured from the crash. They make it sound like kratos raced him in a one on one. Kratos beat Chronos by cleaving him with the sword of Olympus, despite stopping himself from being “squished” by Chronos’ fingers, I wouldn’t call Chronos’ defeat a victory by strength. The GOW trilogy made emphases that Kratos’ cunning brutal nature in the moment and the gods ego made them susceptible to death. You see this when Kratos uses the environment to kill monsters throughout. Did Kratos by strength kill the Kraken? No he used a bridge to impale it and it was sick!! Note: Like all death battle comments there are a lot of arguments in the replies to this. I just wanted to clarify a few things. 1. Kratos himself in the Norse games says that the mythology of the gods is hyperbolic at times. 2. Kratos is shown to be strong, but to the extend death battle implies does a disservice to the games. If Kratos had the strength implied by the video he wouldn’t need to traverse anywhere. He could just punch through every wall in his path. He could lift mount Olympus and throw it. The point of the first 3 games was to be an adventure story similar to Greek stories like the Odyssey. Kratos being a strong badass is great but power scaling him does him a disservice to his accomplishments. How is it cool that Kratos defeated The Hydra for example if he could’ve just in one punch splattered it? The death battle crew writes it off as gameplay, but that’s a disservice to the story.

I have to agree that Greek-Era Kratos really doesn't have all those feats. He had more youth in his system, but he was weaker, he was less experienced, and his foes were more decrepit from their sloth and corruption (or in Chronos's case, being chained down for centuries). That was the whole point of the Hermes fight: Kratos COULDN'T match the gods in their best aspects, so he wore them down in other ways -- such as goading Hermes into a trap, or sniping Helios when he was distracted with a Titan. And when Kratos finally fought Zeus on an even footing in GoW3... he lost. Zeus at his strongest stopped Kratos cold, and it was only when Zeus let go of the corruption of fear that Zeus saw he deserved to lose. So in the end, Kratos absolutely lost his original battle against Spawn and for good reason... ...But that doesn't mean Kratos loses against Asura. It's Norse-Era Kratos who starts racking up the feats for real. I take the world tree and the giant golden statue with a certain level of abstraction, but they are both much larger and more powerful than creation. And when Kratos's Spartan Rage starts warping time and space against gods who can manipulate the world tree, when his Leviathan Axe can cause soul pain against beings like Odin, when the Blades of Chaos get a nice retcon power boost to have the very fires of primordial creation itself that can destroy existence? Norse-era Kratos starts living up to the power scaling

I will copy paste this T H I S I wrote a suporting coment but KZbin did its thing. I like db but these kind of things lessen my enjoyment. I dont wont to suspect of them but it feels like they want to cater to the powers scalers who make things up to wank their characters so they dont get their hate. They even said Kratos somehow got into the nordic realm even if the games (and the makco.they talked about) make it clear that he got there by boat. There are lots of things that say these things and even the developers said so. In words of Cory Balrog when they talk about universes they talk about the geographical regions they have power over and their creation mthos are true only for said regions, the actual hreater universe is unexplored. Someone who was doing research should have seen this so I dont get it. They also should have tried to scale Ashura's final battle, since it implied that Chakravartin's true form is even more powerfull and therefore so is Ashura with s never ending potencial. Also Krato's magic depends on the realm where he is and a battle with Ashura could take them to the space easily, how can Kratos fight in his prime there?

I have genuinely been enjoying death battle all the more with these cinematic ends instead of the older "fatality" style ends. I also appreciate the more in character reasons for them to start fighting. No matter who wins, its a much more satisfying experience than the older DBs, and I'm hoping someday we can see rematches of the classic battles with this newer style incorporated into them.

If remembered correctly in the 2018 God of War game, Kratos tried to get rid of the blades of chaos as those were the only weapons that were still usable after his final battle against his father Zeus. But the blades of chaos always found their way back to Kratos, as they were forever connected to the ghost of Sparta and a reminder of the terrible deeds he did during his old life in Greece.
