First SVB, then signature bank and now first republic bank, these are all the signs of yet another 2008 market crash 2.0 , so my question is do I still save in the United States dollar or is this a good time to buy gold?

It’s always a good option to keep some gold. Well with the current market situation and everything at stake with the present economy, I’d say you’re better off staying away from stocks fr awhile or better still reach out to an adviser for guidance.

Working with a Financial Advisor to help guide you on your wealth-building journey is the best approach right now, I think it's brilliant to use a brokerage advisor for investing. Prior to speaking with an advisor in the heat of the 2008 financial crisis, I was actually experiencing terrifying nightmares. In summary, with the assistance of my advisor, I have grown my initial $120k investment to over $750k.

You lose 7% of every transaction to those costs. See why Bitcoin wins? No plane, no security detail, no assay, no chance of theft...and it's completed in 5 minutes rather than 2 weeks. Fractional reserve banking should be abolished. Then on a gold standard money would rise in value stored under the mattress. Fractional reserve banking was for the bankers to make more money. That was is only reason for it existing. I was taught in economics that fractional reserve banking was a big advantage but it just creates inflation and booms and busts. Yeah they can lend more money to businesses but its inflationary and not worth the busts

In order for commerce to exist there needs to be a buyer and a seller. The Americans (buyer) purchase the stuff the world (seller) produces. Were that system to break down then both buyer and seller would be affected. If the US goes down then economies around the would collapse too.

Wrong, because the manufacturing economy has a real thing that we print fake things to obtain. What changes is value will come from value produced, not a magic money printer. That means only useful services and products manufactured in the United States. Value reorders and remakes the US economy. The other word for that transformation, sovereign debt collapse.

@@georgeorwell3501 It’s gotta be something that stands alone from the dollar. After 1/6 no one wants to hold the debt of a politically unstable nation. And it’s gotta be something that is scalable. We very well be looking at a transition as a society where a persons value is not determined by the amount of wealth they have accumulated. Think about it. The economy or really any socioeconomic system is still only a reflection of the real flesh and blood people it represents. If the economy crashes and the currency the people use becomes worthless the people still exist. The people came first and the economy then developed around them.

Gold is feasible as a store of value only up to a point; for the average investor it can function as a preservation of net worth (as opposed to the average person who may have zero or even negative net worth). For example, say an investor has $1 million they wish to convert to gold, $1 million @ $2000/oz AU = 500 x 1 oz coins. This is an amount that can fit in a shoebox and can be stored in the residence or some other secure location. However, consider someone with $10 billion net worth who wants to convert just 10% of their cash/assets/wealth to gold ($10 billion x 0.1 = $1 billion). So now, doing the math on that: $1 billion @ $2000/oz AU = 500,000 x 1 oz coins. This is not a realistic amount to keep at a residence, even if converted to bullion bars (400 oz per bar, thus it total 1,250 bullion bars). Keeping this at the residence would be equivalent to placing a billboard with a giant bullseye 🎯 on it right outside the house. No one with any sanity would invite that type of risk, so it must then be kept in a bank vault. As the saying goes, however, “ If you don’t hold it, you don’t own it. “
@lamentate07
@lamentate07 Жыл бұрын
Agree. If only the average investor had 1 million to allocate to gold though!😁 Anything beyond 3-5% of your portfolio is probably risky and not worth it. Perhaps a higher allocation could be made in times of crisis depending on your risk appetite and level of fear. i.e. 8-10%. For most people, gold is just a porfolio diversifier and a form of insurance. And if your net worth is too low, it isn't worth bothering with at all.

Mr. Schiff may have a point, but you should take anything he says about gold vs. the dollar with _some_ skepticism, as he has a financial interest in gold, so he stands to profit by creating the perception that you need to buy it (and to utilize his services no doubt). Not hatin'- I'm a fan afterall and I agree with his analysis- but it needs to be said. Feel free to disagree but don't bother commenting, I ain't gon read it and you'll just waste your own valuable time. Spend it learning more about investing instead!
