you didn't really say what stage it indicates. if they've almost all turned brown does that mean it's time (given this isn't the main way to tell), or when they've turned brown it's another week, or days typically?

When these start to turn brown more time should be spent investigating the trichones which are the true indicator of plant development of cannabinoids and other chemicals.

Important to tell is : the more amber coloured the more stoned and feeling sleepy y get when y smoke it later, the less amber coloured the more high y will feel when y smoke it later.
