BUNNY!! You and your family have been a constant in the soundtrack of my life! Your voices and harmony structures have inspired so many of us musicians here in Huntsville, AL. There were times when the music of the Debarge family and Richard Smallwood were the only thing keeping me sane and comforted. Namely after the passing of my 1st wife (m. 22 yrs) and also my mother in 2019. Thank you so so much for a being a treasure in our community!! God bless you and your brothers and entire family as you carry on after the homegoing of your mom.

Videos weren't really invented until 1982 or 1983 when MTV blew up. All through the 70s and early 80s there were no videos and of course each decade before the 70s.
@SlimDaddy99 ай бұрын
Few groups had them in the early 80s. The explanation about MTV is right. Also, MTV was only showing rock acts. The first Black act was The Pointer Sisters. MJ followed soon after.

When EL started singing, he said that he didn't want to sound like his older brother. Everyone around him said that you better hope that you sound like Bobby, and he did. RIP to Bobby Debarge. In the band Switch, Bobby didn't want to sing with a falsetto because he thought that everyone would think that he was a girl. The other band members had to tell him how dope his voice was. Such a talented family. You need to react to the song "Love Still Good" by their younger brother Chico Debarge.

Funny how two song from 1982 could be really good in 1982. One stays there, as you yourself move on to the future. It gets old. The other one survives all the years, and when you hear it, it takes you back in time, makes you young. DeBarge songs are like that - they're in both categories. This one is among the survivors.👌🏽
@alsprettycreations800511 ай бұрын
Bobby Debarge and El Debarge sound exactly alike, both voices are completely interchangeable into each other's groups. Bobby could've easily preformed with Debarge and El could've easily preformed with Switch. And no one would've ever known the (Switch) difference. El Debarge preformed one of Switch songs on stage in a dedication to his brother Bobby Debarge. if you couldn't see who was singing the song, you'd swear that it was Bobby Debarge singing. Great reaction Ashley.

I love DeBarge!!! I bought my first couple of albums when I was in Germany, and when I got back to the States, they were big.... beautiful melodious music with those violins and that voice... many of the "soul" groups used full symphonies or partial symphonies in that day, much like disco music of the 70s.... real gems for those times, and very similar to Barry White's music and I think that is what makes it so gratifying to the hearers... wish music could have stayed that way and sadly, it will never be that way again.

First, El isnt singing this song about a woman. Hes actually singing this about Jesus. If you listen closely to the lyrics, youll see it. It only appears to be sung to/about a woman. As a religious woman, i figured you'd appreciate that fact. Secondly, along with all the other DeBarge song suggestions, check out 'Queen Of My Heart,' you'll thank me later. Additionally, if I remember, when you reacted to Quincy Jones' Secret Garden, you wanted to know who was singing the various parts. Well, the 4th voice you heard is that of El DeBarge.

The abuse and drugs destroyed which is one of the great and most talented entertainment families of All-time! Switch is still one of my favorite groups of All-time! So much God giving talent kinda wasted! Their episodes of "Unsung" are very disheartening, disturbing and painful to watch!
