It’s the opposite. In 22-23 we played slow football like the 09-12 Barcelona and the 17-20 Man City, the slower the better. Fast direct football is for Pulis’ Stoke and Dyche’s Everton. You can’t play fast against small teams because they are in their own box all the time already. Whereas strong teams are more willing to attack, so you can play a more direct style to attack the spaces behind them.

As much as I appreciate Turkish and James, they often come with weird ideas with respdct to the players and manager. Partey is our best No.6 and he plays as long he is fit. Sterling is the best winger on the team. He does not fill the same functions as Saka, but he has been more successful than Saka when he was at the same age and stage. I simply don't know why Turkish blames and dislikes a player who the manager hasn't selected. If Sterling has done nothing, its because Arteta hasn't given him minutes. Finally, MLS is a midfielder. We don't know yet is he is a 6 or 8. That said, Arsenal has a fine left-back named Tierney. Havertz needs to ride the bench unless he is in a front-two with Jesus. He should start on the bench because he is a handicap to the team unless already up a goal or two (then he becomes an asset).

Rice passing choices, are mostly first time wall passes towards the fullback. He faces our own goal, and then he would make one touch passes towards the side. He is more likely to pass to our wide or central defenders. Whereas Partey, he takes the risk to turn, facing the opponent’s goal, and then plays central passes to Odegaard if the opportunity is on. If the opportunity is not on, he would spray the ball to the wide forwards. The only occasions that Rice would turn and face the opponent’s goal with the ball, is when he was level with our centre backs, completely outside the opponent’s shape, which he knows that there are no opponent players anywhere near him. Partey’s game reading and passing are levels above Rice. Rice just isn’t Busquets, Rodri, Fernandinho, FDJ or Kimmich. Even Jorginho and Merino are levels above him. Partey would allow our TEAM to score a lot more goals in TOTAL.

Jesus offers us more fluidity because he is willing to keep dropping and deep roaming around to swap positions with midfielders and wide players. He is a possession loving high touch player. He would do all sorts of short combination passes and skill moves to help the team to create overloads and passing options in the build up. Our TEAM would score a lot more in TOTAL because of him. Havertz makes us more static. When he “swap position” with others, he would just make one simple pass, and then he would run forward directly, back to his traditional number 9 position. Havertz is a play simple low touch player.
