We are definitely getting a CB/RB in January. The attacker thing at Arsenal is overstated. The issue is tactical, from Arteta and how agonizingly slow our buildup normally is - with the downside that it requires a "moment of Magic" subscription. 3 simple throughballs left palace for dead. Our attempt to control the opposition rather than outplay them, leads us to drop to their level like Everton and Fulham, Brighton. Jesus didn't suddenly "improve" - the quick transition played to his strengths and he delivered. Give a V8 high octane fuel and it will go. Give it Diesel and you need special parts, special gearing, turbos, and all this other nonsense.

100% agree. We played direct balls instead of building from the back at a snails pace and jesus shined in the chaos. This type of fast buildup would have suited martinelli as well

No, the issue is not tactical. The issue is that we don't have a first team quality LW or striker and have big question marks over LB & left 8. We basically have 60% of a title winning first team.
@leirsdeirs62124 күн бұрын
The issue is tactical but I don’t think Arteta will adapt his tactics until he gets who he wants. We’ve seen us play good attacking football but we need better players to do it consistently if we’re going to open ourselves up to be more expansive

I think the last few games have shown that there's a lack of tactical versatility. New signings always help, but Mikel still needs to find answers anyway. Two seasons ago, Mikel out-smarted the whole league with his box midfild. Now opponents have found answers. Often, it's the sheer class of Bukayo Saka that helps us overcome the problem of wings lacking penetration. Often only crosses from half spaces. The midfield is too crowded. Even Odegaar or Nwaneri can't receive and turn in these circumstances. We need to learn how to stretch the field again and drag defenders out. That means more support on the wings and more deep runs and daring passes. At the moment, I think it's mainly a tactical problem.
@Roman_c52 күн бұрын
Facts. Nwaneri was nullified last game, and there is no reason for him to be. Think arteta needs to go back to the drawing board
@nathanmachoka6824Күн бұрын
I agree. I rate Haaland as one of the best strikers the league has seen but in our game against City we nullified this threat. Now teams are doing to us what we did to City. Sit back, make the Arsenal players frustrated, break fast and get a goal then go back to the block again. I don't think a new "world class" striker will solve this issue entirely.

I wish the club would get even Semenyo and Oshimen, it would make so much difference but I just do think they'll do anything in Jan. Us fans see the team differently from Arteta. In defense, fans said for 2 years that Saliba needed a chance but he was always going on loan. Is Saliba better now because of the loans? Maybe, but while in France he snatched the best youngster of the year trophy so he was probably good enough already; and we know Arteta was ready to send him away again, but Saliba just proved in pre-season there was no way the team could do without him. Then Isak was offered to us, thanks to the good relationship with Real Sociedad, fans were totally on board but we said no. Then Kudus was in conversations, fans had mixed feelings but we said no anyway. On the other hand, it's well reported that we were aggressively trying to sign Vlahovic, but anyone in Italy could have told you he was already a Juventus player since he stopped talking to Fiorentina to renew, so we wasted a January window on a goose chase. Fans and Arteta agreed, but it was pointless. Fans have been saying for years we needed a 'proper' striker, the Arteta says no. Fans are all on board with many attackers that are only a release clause away, but no. Jesus scoring a hat trick will fuel Arteta's beliefs, so as much as I agree with all your suggestions, and more, I'm not sure we'll be doing anything. Again.

But its a painful truth with these owners and arteta being good but strict in his ideals, we wont be winning anything or signing anyone of substance. Just more rejects of other clubs and good players but not great. Hoping we develop a world class player instead of buying one now to push us over the line and truly compete with the best.
@loveadeola3 күн бұрын
@Slim2Flo it's the painful truth not many Arsenal fans would admit. I've been supporting this club for 21 years now, and I've seen transfer rumours and the actual transfers that follow year in year out. This club has absolutely no interest in becoming a juggernaut like Real Madrid. They're not even trying or pretending to try. I really pity Arteta because he genuinely believes that greatness can be achieved on a tight budget and maybe that's why upper management likes him. Beyond all the tactics, coaching, mentality culture, training etc, the simple truth of football is that any squad with a world class 11 will win trophies. It's not rocket science. Look at what Kompany is doing at Bayern compared to his stint at Burnley. It's really easy when you have a world class 11. All these mental acrobatics about tactics and strategies don't mean jack squat if some of your players are shite.

Madueke could be an outside shout, although it’s not a key area of improvement it is also critically important. We need another player in Saka’s mould. Noni is not on B’s level so would need to prove himself, and could get enough minutes to prove useful over a season. However, if the story is that we need a LW then I feel like we should move for a Hudson-Odoi, Olmo or Gordon. Up front? Osimhen is always gonna be a shout, but I don’t see the vision. I feel like you want your CF to be more well rounded like Havertz or Sesko, and your transitional inevitability probably is better from the wing than centrally.

14:02. Arteta has shown ruthlessness in replacing players across all the zones. Attackers axed include: Lacazette, Aubameyang, Nketiah, Nelson, Vieira, Pepe, etc. Players like Sterling, Trossard, and Kai Havertz competing with Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus won’t be enough to win the league. We urgently need a highly potent striker and a top-quality left winger. Imagine having a striker who consistently delivers 20+ goals per season, alongside a left winger performing at Bukayo Saka’s level-we wouldn’t be struggling as we are now. Though I'm a Nigerian but I have mixed feelings about the two Nigerians on your list: Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen. Lookman struggled during his time in England and might simply be better suited to the Italian league. Osimhen, on the other hand, is injury-prone and lacks Premier League experience. Going all out for him in January would be a significant gamble. My Verdict: 1. Calafiori: If he stays fit, he could provide excellent support for Martinelli. 2. Merino: If he can get closer to Ødegaard’s level and replicate that on the left attacking midfield, it would make a huge difference. 3. Gabriel Jesus’ fitness: We all know his quality when fully fit. If he can stay fit (a massive if), he could be pivotal. 4. Despite the above points, we still need a potent striker and a top-class left winger, either to displace current players or push them to perform better. This aligns with Arteta’s competitive management style. My suggestions: Mohammed Kudus and/or Viktor Gyökeres. As always, great analysis! Well done.

We have a lot to do because we haven’t addressed certain problems. 1) Signing a ST. 2) Finding suitable competition for Saka. 3) Fix our issues on the LW. 4 & 5) find long term replacements for Partey & Jorginho. Both are out of contract in the summer (yes Jorginho technically has another year as option but is that wise if we need to make that next step?). 6) Find a reliable rotation with Calafiori as Tierney is leaving, I expect Tavares will be leaving in the summer while Zinchenko and MLS are naturally midfielders. And 7) Find a no.2 as Neto is just a loan with no option. In reality the clubs main targets will NOT be available in the summer and I would rather we sign the RIGHT player and not just anyone. The clubs main targets seem to be Joan Garcia, Jorrel Hato, Martin Zubimendi, Douglas Luiz, Johan Bakayoko, JBG and Sesko. Personally, I can maybe see Douglas Luiz happening from that list as the others would most likely not be available in January (Unless we trigger a release clauses) which is unlikely imo. Plus, I can see the club moving either one of (maybe even both) Zinchenko and MLS into midfield to replace Partey & Jorginho, but that won’t be until the summer. I also imagine the club will keep rotating Martinelli, Stirling, Trossard and Jesus on the LW for now (Same with the RW). I can imagine the club leave the GK situation until the summer as it’s not an immediate priority. I can’t see us signing a ST seeing as Sesko, Gyokeres, Isak, Vlahovic not being available. However, maybe an agreement for a loan for the rest of the season for Mathys Tel could take place? But I’d only want it if it came with an ‘Option to Buy’. I cant see a defender coming in as I don’t think Hato will be leaving Ajax in January along with the current players we have there. Most likely deals (If any) imo: Douglas Luiz & Mathys Tel, both loans.

Tyler Dibling or Johan Bakayoko perfect for saka. Gabriel Martinelli is fine. If you saw how Tierney played against Palace, you can imagine how this helps him. We saw how well he plays when Ricci plays with him. I'd go back to Brighton and get another of their left sided guys: Kaoru Mitoma... + he s proven. I'd get Matheus Cunha as an 8 - saw him plenty there and he is crazy... plus he is the tall strong profile Mik loves. Then its between Viktor Gyökeres and Benjamin Šeško upfront. 4 players in and splash 200M (not considering sales) and forget the back line or midfield. Partey is excellent, we are keeping him fit this season but it is too risky, he can go. I love him in our base though. We have been unlucky at the back. In our team, that is the one area we are really packed but now very light due to injuries, but we cannot keep buying defenders. Midfield, we have good enough players to move around. Mikel Moreno can play the 8 as he is now and the 6. So can Dec. Ethan deserves a chance at that 8 - share it with the skipper. That is the only way he grows. Gam against Palace proves that. This for me take sus next level.

He’s a good option who’ll probably go for cheaper than most of the other options for a striker but the quality is there plus he’s only 24 and still has time to develop. Personally I think he’d be a good choice for Arteta. He is injured right now and Mainz think he’ll be out for a few weeks with a hamstring injury though so I’d say that would be a summer investment. 🤷♂️

I would love Cunha. Leao would thrive isolated in space with defenders. Sescko also good. I would take those 3

Left Winger (who can play RW) Striker CM/CDM (with long shots) Left Back (who can play RB) Centre Back (LCB preferably) That’s what we need. In that order. Surplus to requirements: Jesus Martinelli and/or Trossard Kiwior Zinchenko Tierney (and whoever is on it on loan) I don’t care who we sign, as long as they’re proven.
@BeforeThisNovember4 күн бұрын
For once we don’t really have “deadwood”. Sure there’s some here who aren’t good enough for us, but they are all useful still in certain scenarios and they all have some market value.

I agree that left side needs improving its the most lacking side in the team
@BeforeThisNovember4 күн бұрын
@@tr3m0r36 definitely. Calafiori was supposed to fix that and he looked promising. But we are injury FC after all
@yao0524 күн бұрын
We don’t need that many players LW and ST are the priority. Another CM/CDM will only be necessary in the summer when Jorginho stops and Partey leaves. CB/LB is literally unnecessary
@BeforeThisNovember4 күн бұрын
@ yeah I literally listed in order of priority. We don’t have a LB bro.. Cala injured and yet to see if he fits there. Zinny garbage and Tierney always injured. We do need a CM who can drive with the ball and or has long shots.
@Shaneafc14 күн бұрын
There’s a huge difference between comparing 50-100m attacking signings who don’t definitely upgrade on Martinelli vs sub 50m defensive signings who almost certainly improve on what we had eg Raya, Calafiori. I’m really just tempering expectations because what you think on big spend for marginal gain, is not (thankfully imo) is what the club think. Market opportunity, bring forward a signing sure. But coming to Atalanta with €20/30m for Lookman when they want €45/50m right now, it’s wise to walk away until summer. The same applies to most of the others. £50m/ €60m for Semenyo hampers the long term strength of the project. For what? 3/5 points and hope Liverpool slip up. It’s not prudent whatsoever

Isak would be great but unrealistic in January. I'd pick Lookman or Williams on the left to complete the front line and help us win some trophies this season.

The real question "Does Arteta know what an Arteta attacker looks like?"
@Midkemma4 күн бұрын
I think Osimhen is a realistic target as well. He isn't going back to Napoli and being a 1st team player when they have the history that they do. They want Kiwior and TBH we could do with replacing him with a beast of a LCB to compete with Big Gab. This gives us the opportunity to do 2 transfers as swaps are not really a big thing; sell them Kiwior and buy from them Osimhen. Do this well and with respect and we could sniff around Kvaratskhelia (summer marquee), who also wants to leave Napoli and played well with Osimhen. I'd like to see some sales happen though TBH. Kinda sick of seeing 6 LBs in the squad; Calafiori, MLS, Tomiyasu, Kiwior, Tierney and Zinny! If we can manage Tomi fitness then maybe he could be backup for Big Gabs as he isn't injured that often in general. We should get £50 mil combined from Kiwior, Tierney and Zinny. Depending on the rumour but Osimhen is up to 90 mil euros - about £75 mil. £25 mil difference.

Our problem, or one of them at least, for quite some time has been our system. It's too slow. Look at Liverpool under Slot and compared it with us. How many passes do we need to bring the ball into the final third compared to Liverpool? Our system hardly facilitates our forwards and creates space for them. Slow buildup is fine when your principle is to keep the ball all the time (i.e., having avg > 60% possession per game) to breakdown opponents. But, when you rely so much on 2nd ball duels and turnovers, slow buildup is a chance killer.

I think Kudus would be the best signing. Lukman a close second. Semenyo has not convinced me yet. Kudus on a good team is on Saka’s level or better and is more versatile because he can play on the left and as a 10 (ordegaard cover) spend the $80 mil and you get goals and assists immidiately.

In recent years it might seem like Arsenal have signed too many defenders and GKs, but I much prefer it to the days when Wenger wanted an entire squad of wingers.

Ironically, I think there are two unicorn players that have stalled out the market at the top end. So perfect IS getting in the way of good. Wirtz and Musiala will be on the market soon imo, especially with Bayern struggling to get the latter's contract done. I think Arsenal, City and Liverpool are keeping their powder dry for a reason. RIP

Just look what he did to Real Madrid as a 19 year old and what he’s Done in PL. He played with odegaard and is well suited for Arsenal. This is the closest we get to Titi I promise you guys

1. A LW alone does not solve our problems. We have to sign a striker, even if that's the only signing we do. So other than Osimhen, the other players don't improve us. If we can't get Leao or Gyokeres now, let's take someone on loan then go for the 2 in the summer.
@toddmacadam38883 күн бұрын
I'll be gutted if we replace Martinelli. I really want our solution to be figuring out how to get the best out of him. Let's be honest: Saka is doing so well bc of Odegaard. Individually, they're both very good players. Together, they're world-class. Who is Martinelli's Odegaard? It certainly isn't Merino. Turns out it was Xhaka. I'd love to see Zinchenko play left mid. He plays there for Ukraine, and I don't think he'd be the defensive disaster one might expect, as defending centrally is far different than defending against pacey wingers. He'd be far more adept at playing Martinelli in behind than Merino, Rice, or Havertz. This team treats Martinelli like a red-headed step-child. How many times do we try to drop the ball over the top for Saka? And he's probably our slowest outfield player. We need to play more through balls and balls over the top for Martinelli. He's got all that pace and we're wasting it! Saka gets supported by his fullback. What do we do with Martinelli's full back? We typically invert him. Martinelli's typically more isolated than Raya...and then we wonder why his output is down. Havertz also drifts right. I don't think changing our LW is going to change anything if we don't change how we utilize that wing. Trossard's an amazing player, and yet he's also garbage on the left. Let's stick Saka out there and see how he fares. I'm betting "not very well".

Have you heard of Gabriel Pec at LA Galaxy?
@coachRoome4 күн бұрын
Jesus up front, Havertz R8 (he spends all game drifting there anyway) and ask Martin to go to the L8 to unlock Martinelli. Then pray that West Ham go down and go for Cesko and Kudus in the summer (plus a defender to replace Tomi)
@Tillsonov3 күн бұрын
only thing that worries me is if we got semenyo and played him on lw would make all of our front 5 left footed if merino is playing left 8 😅
@fredrikhansen59664 күн бұрын
you talk about the tactics brilliantly. but you are forgetting the team angle, if these types fit into the current squad. I do not believe they do. That's why I think Isaak or Gyokeres makes more sense. and the price tags are similar. The history of Isaak with Odegaard especially is something I value very much. Appreciate your videos a lot, mate! 🙂
@siya.bonga_mabuza4 күн бұрын
id sign kudus in January and play a midfield of Øde - Rice - Kudus.. then move jesus to LW and play Havertz at Striker.. because let's face it there isn't any world class striker or left winger available in Jan.. might as well hang on til summer to get an actual world class left winger and striker

Yes we dont need another left back and i fear kudus wouldn’t be utilised as arteta dislikes changing a players position once he has decided where they are best. Love kudus and id play him opposite odegaard or left wing but would arteta try him in either position? For me, leao/kvart Gyokeres Musiala Dream signings they are Realistic signings; Lookman Mbuemo Eze

@Slim2Flo I get we have a lot of lbs, but Davies provides a lot of attack, which could be good. He also has played as a lw no. But I think isak would be the dream hatrick he knows how to get goals. Definitely don't get eze. Not playing well, semeyo would be better.
