im a gooner and i think Klopp is the best coach in the world, even better than Guardiola because Klopp did overachieve with (at he time) small Mainz, with (at he time) mid Dortmund and with big Liverpool, so his stuff works in every context. But currently Arteta is a hot prospect. At the present time it seems like there is more to still get out of Arteta than with Klopp, whos big achievements sets him up for disappointment.

There's no way to swing it one way or the other definitively on that. Both are managers who took teams from mid table back to being title contenders (and in klopps case: champions). However this is Arteta's first ever management job, Klopp has at least a decade and a Half's experience over Arteta and yet Arteta cooks him in the table? I think you have to say Arteta for the here and now and Klopp for the historical and the fact he's got a champions league

My point being, hes had 1 good season, a season which he still ultimately bottled, same as the season previous when they got pipped by spurs for CL spots. It's not just one good season, he has turned a team that was in absolute turmoil into one of the best in the league. He won the FA cup his 1st season when he took over in december/January, the year we finished 5th we probably should have made top 4 but regardless that was a really good season considering what we were looking like beforehand and last year we MASSIVELY overachieved. Most people didn't even think Arsenal would finish top 4 and we pushed City as far as basically anyone could barring prime Liverpool. Taking away credit from Arteta by just saying we bottled it is so lazy tbh. Also everyone spends a ridiculous amount of money, I think if you're being objective Arsenal have done some of the best transfer buisness in the last few seasons but of course now it's getting turned into simply a money argument, keep in mind how old Arteta is and keep in mind that this is his first job as a manager, it's very rare and special what he's doing. This is not to take anything away from Klopp because he is phenomenal obviously but Klopp started his career doing a solid job at Mainz, wasn't just thrown into the deep end like Arteta, give Arteta some more credit because he deserves it.

A lot closer than you think. Klopp took a Liverpool team from rags to riches over the course of 5 years. Arteta has been at Arsenal 3 years and has taken a lost Arsenal team to being title contenders. He's also in the champions league for the first time in his career, so there's no way to judge him on European performance. Honestly in 2 seasons time Arteta will be considered better than Klopp. As of right now, yes Klopp is proven to be better in terms of his achievements.

Great session - I subscribed. 1 thing that I do want to mention is one of the panel argued that if Man U had scored in the first half against spurs it would have been a different story - worst argument ever. I can go with that and say "if spurs had scored 5 goals in the first half they would have won" - anyone can play that. Arteta is overrated, isn't he? Poch pretty much did the same thing at Spurs that Arteta did on a fraction of the budget. Poch finished 5th, 3rd and 2nd in his first 3 seasons, Arteta finished 8th, 8th and 5th in his first 3 (though he finished 2nd in his 3rd *full* season). Furthermore, Poch's 2nd placed Spurs finished on a higher points total than Arsenal's last season.

I think with Barcelona it’s tricky because the fans are expecting results especially in the champions league but the board is too. These levers and potentially risky deals for world class players are made by the board because of the ridiculous amount of money that can be made for just progressing deep in the champions league not even having to actually win the trophy. It’s risky but dropping out of the champions league for multiple seasons would make it incredibly difficult to re enter the “elite” club status later on in the future as the money just won’t be there but most importantly the future income won’t be there either

Barca fan here. I think most of the fan base do not really appreciate what the 'financial levers' really mean in the long term. Most of these levers involved selling assets we did not know existed before last year. Pulling the 'levers' allowed us to sign Lewandowski (questionable signing imho but he helped deliver the league), Kounde and Raphinha in addition to registering other players (a process most of us do not fully understand). Raphinha is entering his peak and we signed him when there was a lot of uncertainty about Dembele. Kounde has proven himself beyond doubt for me. Christensen is also an excellent signing on a free transfer. We are still lacking a bit of depth in attack but there are lots of reasons to be optimistic when we look at our young players. Winning the league again this time around might be a bit harder but definitely far from impossible. Our record against Madrid in the past year is also quite encouraging. Noone expects us to win UCL but we may be 3-4 seasons away from a genuine UCL challenge. I do not see many credible FCB fan channels making unrealistic demands of the club. At the moment we have a very decent backline and midfield and decent attack if Lewa rediscovers his form so a bit of optimism is appropriate.
