I think we can use Pat's argument from the last Sunday Vibes against his own argument about Robertson in this video: it was a role/team tailor-made for a player with his skillset. Klopp didn't decided to play "full-back oriented football" because of Robertson. Robertson was bought because he fited the system. As for Kompany, he adapted and exceeded as a CB with multiple managers and philosophies.
@ryanbutler4221 Жыл бұрын
The hole in your point is that nobody expected anything from Robertson, he was playing for relegated hull side and didn't show any of the skillset Klopp was looking for there. He made the Liverpool left back position his own by evolving into the best left back in the world.
@iazan Жыл бұрын

The disrespect on Azpi's name is huge. He has won every single trophy he possibly could at club level and he played a major part in all of those trophy wins. He started 11 games in the CL winning season and every single game in the 16/17 season. The fact that they think that he didn't play a major role in those trophies is absolutely maddening. Just because he didn't have any flashy memorable moments is why they are putting Robertson above him. He wouldn't have been starting all those games if he wasn't a quality player

@@Francadam How wasn't he important in the CL win. One doesn't start every single game unless the manager views him as extremely important to the side. He started every single knockout game that season ,every single game of the 16/17 season and 29 starts in the title winning season of 14/15 where he played multiple games at CB and LB. The managers trusted him enough in those seasons so you can't say he wasn't one of Chelsea's best players during those periods. The Robertson argument is different tho. It's just like saying Stones is a better defender than De Ligt because he plays midfield in Pep's system but De Ligt doesn't. In all those winning seasons for Chelsea, Azpi wasn't asked to do what Robertson is doing for Klopp and he did what he was asked extremely better than any other player would have done.

Repeatedly? I can’t seem to find it. Only thing I’ve read is how he said it’s better for him to play in midfield when he was older mainly because the other players were quicker in attack and he can read the game better now that he’s older. When has he said he saw himself as an attacking midfielder when he was younger and had the legs? I’m genuinely curious and want to read it as I’m a big fan of his.

I think Rooney was a rare breed of a player that had a street football mentality, where he’d play everywhere wanting the ball make things happen and combined with his talent, you can’t really define a position in a forward line… Rooney is the type of player that in a scenario like after 90 mins of football and play the extra time for an extra 30, he’d still chase every ball and dribble past players and you’d find him on the edge of the box to defend. Pure footballer who tactics can’t really stop his playstyle

i think the arguments made here are correct, but Eden Hazard was such a wonderful player for Chelsea it is obscene. his final season under Maurizio Sarri is the pinnacle of what a left sided midfielder could be. he was Chelsea's go to guy for buildup play, playmaking, and finishing off goals in a team where only him, Jorginho, Kante and (once in a blue moon) Giroud were playing at an elite level at any point in the season. capping it off 4-1 against Arsenal in the Europa League Final was a historic moment. then going to Madrid for €150million when his legs were finished gave us the funds to sign Tuchel's squad that won the Champion's League. real Chelsea fans know Hazard gave us more than any other player besides Cech, Terry, and Lampard in this century.

The disrespect on Azpi and Hazard is actually insane. Azpi not reaching the same heights in his prime as kompany and robertson is a myth. He was considered to be the best defender in the league for like four seasons under coaches like Sarri. And Hazard, was the only player in Europe who people got to say was on the same level as Messi and Ronaldo sometimes. The argument Salah had to carry bad Liverpool teams is jist amplified with Hazard. This guy had to play with absolute farmers sometimes at chelsea, I genuinly think sometimes wed be battling relegation if we didnt have him.
@VitoCorleone66 Жыл бұрын
Hazard was never near Messi and Ronaldo's level. He was great, but even in his best Chelsea season, in numbers, he still was far, far behind those two - I understand you may like him and how important he was for Chelsea, because everything went through him while he was there. He never once at Chelsea scored more than 16 league goals, only once in his carrer hitting 20 (at Lille, last season), while Ronaldo since his breakthrough season has only this year gone below 17 goals in the league - we are talking about Hazard's best Chelsea season and comparing it basically to some of the worst seasons Ronaldo has had in the past 15 years. Yes, Hazard assisted more, but not that much more for his output to be comparable to either of those two, at pretty much any point since they broke through I'm not even bringing up Messi's stats, because that would be just cruel

He was operating deeper than their most attacking midfielder at times. Can respect any list all 3 world class players but surprised how he was just brushed aside in this debate
