Hey man, a quick tip about feeling the "roughness" of your surface while prepping is to have a thin plastic piece of plastic foil, bag (usually transparent) around your hand. I got this tip from an old painter and detailer, and somehow you can even feel the roughness of paint before decontaminating it with a clay bar! It's also a good idea to have some marking powder (black or white, depending on the colour of the sanded surface) when sanding any surface with consistent colour, so that you see which parts are the high spots. Whatever colour you choose, it's going to look stunning on this car. Loved watching the vid, really enjoyed the progress!

8 looks great. Also get a block sander for Bondo work. To notice low spots give the work area a dust of black paint from afar. So that way any spots that are low will show up. Also its easier to apply bondo when you go top to bottom and then to smooth it out you go side to side

This video makes me want to sand and wrap my car so badly. This seems like the perfect task for an autist like me to get sucked into it lol. Maybe once I've sorted out the performance (and my budget has gone up a little) I'll get around to doing this :) Also, I just want to say that this was a great video! It really feels like you are stepping up your game lately, you are clearly putting in a lot of effort and it absolutely shows. This is hands down my favourite channel on KZbin, I always save your videos for late at night so I can watch them with a cup of hot choccie :D

Colour nr.3 it's very interesting. Also, take your time prepping the surface. I install ppf daily and this was one of the first lessons. Better prepare it good at the beginning than losing time doing it during the process.

@@HunterDirection also, some more advice. 1. Pay extra attention on the corners and edges because those are one of the most important parts. I mean not just on the visible side but also where the panels join and behind the panel, ~1cm would be enough. You don’t want it to lift after the first wash. 2. When installing PPF, to finish the edges and corners, we spray them very good with IPA, let them sit a little bit, and then use a normal hair dryer. I find it better compared to a heatgun for 2 reasons: - better temp control. (You don’t risk to burn the foil) - increased airflow and air speed. Helps to blow away the liquid and dry the edges faster. 3. Maybe you are familiar with this one because you have wrapping experience but I will still mention it. In order to have clean cuts you need to “cut”/break the cutter’s blade on each cut, especially when doing fine cuts like corners. Helps a lot. I recommend carbon blades. 4. Lastly, I will explain you our steps when installing. Pretty basic but for us that’s the way to avoid contaminants as much as possible. - first of all, clean thoroughly the garage. Everything. You don’t want dust at all. - detail the car. All the cracks and joints have a lot of dust or sand which will come out during the install, so use a brush in those areas. - assuming you finished sanding and you have a nice surface, wipe the pannel thoroughly with surface prep. I know I keep repeating myself, but pay extra attention on corners and edges. I also know how frustrating it is to find that the edge lifted after install. - cut the PPF in the size of your pannel. Actually, cut it bigger because it’s easier to stretch it. - I recommend to have a peeling board or some big improvised working bench. We use 6 picnic tables, one near each other. Lay the PPF with the liner and glue facing downwards. Peel the ppf spraying slip solution between the glue and the liner. After you peeled it completely, lay it back on the table with the glue facing down. Try to avoid spending too much time with the glue exposed to avoid contaminants. You are ready to go. From now on you need to move fast. - spray slip solution on your panel. - squeegee it away in order to remove potential dust. - spray again slip solution rinsing the whole panel with it, from top to bottom. - lay the ppf on the panel. - secure each corner with IPA and make sure you have tension - squeegee - depending on how fast you move maybe you will need to spray again slip solution under the ppf because it’s getting dry pretty fast - spray IPA on the edges and corners to rinse the slip solution - cut - use hairdryer to finish I know it’s a lot to read but I hope it will be helpful. Enjoy! 👌
