I think filler is completely unavoidable if he wants a perfect paint job. A lot of those small dents can't be made invisible without filler. But he is minimizing the amount he will need before painting. I'm sure the result will be perfect. Curious which color he will choose. The original one is not very appealing.

About 20 years ago I was given a 240Z, California car with almost zero rust, but otherwise rough. Had it shipped to VA with intention to restore it. After 2 years of it sitting under a cover, my wife says "fix it, or sell it". I sold it. Watching this video, I made the right decision, I no longer regret not trying to restore it. The skill and the speciality tools needed to do the job correctly are on another level from what I might have mustered. Thank you for helping me see I was not equipped to try restoring it myself.
@vendacious17 күн бұрын
Yeah, I had project '74 260Z with a 350 V8, but my car's interior burned up in an iPhone fire. I was told 'no more potential fires, please' and had to sell it. You are definitely not missing a fun experience w/ the body. Even watching him scraping off the rubberized coating on the floorboards evoked painful memories of trying to fix all the jack stand puncture holes from 35 years of dumb owners who put it in the wrong place. Anyone with a '70-'78 240Z-280Z project car, unless you're capable like this guy, I'd give that job to body shop.

Absolutely smitten with the fender mirrors, and also want to shout out the unreal level of care taken with camera and lighting angles to make the dent removal clear and visible

Your job is so amazing, just miraculous, not to mention this video and audio quality. As always, for me you're etalon for other restoration channels. It is very clear that you get pleasure from the fact that no detail will be left unattended and everything will be restored in the best possible way. Thanks for this perfect content. Keep going!

I'm not watching any of the Datsun vids until he says it's totally done. Then I'll dedicate an entire day to bingeing all of them at once, like the glutton I am.

Unbelievable! The car was in top shape even before stripping it down.Man, are you a surgeon by profession? Your work is just so clinical and every minutest detail addressed. Wish I could spend a month in your workshop.

Bodywork is so chaotic and overwhelming often times, but with your structured and organized way of working through it all, you make it seem so easy and orderly 🥰 One tip for the filler parts if you don't already know: You can use a weak magnet, like those thin flexible magnet patches, to go over a panel. When there's filler beneath, the magnet won't stick.
@ArniVidar11 ай бұрын
Yep, he's already done that for the entire car. 🙂
