I'd first seen the film when I was 11, in 1978. Loved everything about it.. Now we watch it as a family when we feel we need something to cheer us up and my 13 year old son loves it. This made me cry a little.

I noticed how much the fan concept of the “You Are My Lucky Star” number, especially the spoken section, has in common with the “Dear Mr. Gable/You Made Me Love You” number performed by Judy Garland in “Broadway Melody of 1938,” also produced by Arthur Freed. “Singing in the Rain” owes not only the Brown/Freed songs, but so much else to the earlier “Broadway Melody” film series.

Oh I heard other things. I heard Gene Kelley was so critical he made her cry and I also heard from her actual vocal coach she was bitchy with him (probably from the pressure) but who knows . I dont know her personally. I couldnt tell. Of course I want to believe the positive
@MissCaraMint
@MissCaraMint 3 жыл бұрын
I meanwe all get bad tempered when under that kind of preassue, and Kelly was having lot’s of truble with the studio at the time. They probably did ocasionally say and do things they wouldn’t normally, but I don’t see how that condemns them forever. On the whole they seem both to have been normally nice people with the normal human failings.

@@MissCaraMint Umm who said it condemns them forever? Of course its human to have a couple of bad days when under pressure. Sad thing is hollywood stars get judged immediatly. Where did you read in my comment that I would judge her for having a temper especially when you dance 8 hours a day and are under constant pressure . I am pretty sure I have implied that I always want to believe the positive about a person I dont know personally. Obviously that didnt come across in my comment, but you reacted as if I called her a b.... or something. Nope ... not my intention at all.... Thats what I will never understand about the internet. People picking fights where there arent any .

Thank God Ann Miller didnt get the gig. All she does is spin. I never cared for her. Debbie was perfect for the role. I read she had issues with Gene Kelly, but she persevered with help from Fred Astaire. I loved her in Unsinkable Molly Brown.

I was a little floored when I found out recently that Debbie Reynolds died the day after her daughter, Carrie Fisher. I didn't hear anything about it. Sure, Carrie Fisher was famous for Star Wars and a few other things but her mother was Hollywood royalty. How could her passing be overshadowed by her daughter that was basically in three major movies. (I don't count the current shit.)

I don't know how on you heard about Carrie's death but missed Debbie Reynolds--it was all over the news, and many of the Star Wars centered sites covered both, as well. Billie Lourd lost her mom and her grandmother in the same week. There was a big joint memorial service for the both of them, and Debbie Reynolds' crypt has some of Carrie's ashes and is topped by a statue of the two of them together. Also, to disparage Carrie's work as "basically in three major movies" or "Star Wars and a few other things" is pretty much crap.

Ms. Reynolds. Did Ms. Bonnie Franklin Lucas call you? I thought she might know your Daughter, Carrie Fisher, as she played Princess Leia in Star Wars. Perhaps Mr. Gene Kelly and Ms. Rita Hayworth would like to be young again and star in a tv show based on Cover Girl. "Are My Seams Straight?" with Eve Arden and others. Thanks. Love you.
