Debbie’s Crescent Rolls
2 cups Milk, heated to 110-115 degrees
2 pkg. Yeast (1/4 oz. Each)
1 cup Shortening
1 cup Sugar
2 tsp. Salt
6 eggs, beaten
9 cups Flour (all-purpose
1. Heat milk to 110-115 degrees. Add yeast and stir until dissolved
2. In large mixing bowl, cream shortening, sugar & salt
3. Add the beaten eggs and mix well
4. Add part (up to 1/2) of the flour and mix until blended
5. Add milk/yeast and the rest of the flour.
6. If using a stand mixer, using the dough hook, knead and mix until smooth & elastic
7. Place dough in an oiled or greased large bowl.
8. Cover & let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 1/2 hours)
9. Divide dough into 2-3 equal parts, depending on how large you want your rolls
10. Roll each portion into a circle. Cut each circle into 12-16 pieces shaped pieces.
11. Roll each piece into a crescent.
12. Place onto prepared baking sheet.
13. ***At this point they can be frozen or baked immediately
14. If frozen allow to thaw and rise until double and then bake
15. If baking immediately, allow rolls to rise until double in size
16. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
17. Brush with melted butter if desired while still warm.
