I made this a couple of weeks ago for a friends 92nd birthday - wanted to do something really special. Made it in different shades/patterns of lavender & following your instructions to the letter. My friend initially thought it was one piece of material, until I explained how it was done. The most complicated part was the final bit putting the cushion together ensuring the pieces went the right way, checked several times. As always you give clear, concise instructions, many thanks.

I don't have much confidence either so I guess after over worrying and pinning and 2nd guessing myself I could cut the time by at least an couple of hours!!! I used a pale teal, light grey & white just to give my bedroom a lift!! Love my new cushion! Thanks again... keep up the amazing tutorials! From a very happy Scottish lass! Xxxx

I've started using the extra lining inside the pillow cover on all my pieced tops. Thanks again for a great looking pillow cover. BTW I found it just a bit quicker to place wrong sides together of the tubes, then pressing the seam allowance in the center open. You cannot see the seams, so again just a bit quicker.

Thanks so much for this and all your excellent tutorials! I wonder if you could make a video tutorial of a simple cushion cover with this same method that gives the clean finish inside but without the making and weaving of strips. Just using a single piece of fabric for the top of the cushion so it would be much simpler but just as professional.

I am fairly new to sewing and am trying different styles of cushion to improve my skills plus have something lovely and useful to keep for myself or give away as gifts. I love the idea of this and am looking forward to designing a gorgeous woven cushion! A couple of questions if I may though: do you wash all the fabric beforehand to pre-shrink it, what if it fades as some fabrics might, some can look a bit 'washed out' even after one wash, or do you leave it for the new owner to launder it with the potential risk that perhaps the backing fabric might shrink more than the woven side or something? And how would a mix of different types/thicknesses of fabric work for the woven side, do they all have to be the same? A genuine newbie dilemma ;)

Love this!! Just thinking, you could probably sew the tubes wrong sides together, press seam open on back, then lay the strips right side up on base fabric and weave because you don't see the back of the strop anyway. This would make the process a little quicker.
