Brad they are made to bend there during an impact. When wheels or suspension and front frame takes a hit that section of frame will usually always get pushed in. I have pulled many many truck frames back out from same issue. Good frame guy with a strong frame straightener can pull it out for you. Just make sure they always pull enough so back wheels track correctly with front.
@stevenwebb2295 Жыл бұрын
I agree with Nick. I worked in collision for 20-plus years and ten of that was crawling around a couple of chief EZ liner frame machines. I have straightened much much worse than that. Some of the frames I straightened, shouldn't have been straightened, but that was what the insurance adjuster wanted. You can fire up the rosebuds and heat those frames up 2A dull red without them losing too much structural integrity.

Engine trans and transfer case one piece. Use a helper for brake lines all assembled and carry over. Unbolt the shocks, and leaf springs and roll over the rear diff assembly never removing the wheels. The most time consuming part is the front suspension. Don’t fret it’s easier than you think.

It's not that bad as it seems. A frame section can be done but before doing that you'll need to pull it and align it to specs. Again a full frame can be replace. Just go to the dealer and ask for a frame diagram. There is some pieces of the frame that can be replace by sections and not entirely.

Like I said by back wheel almost feel off because in the accident it overstressed the upper rear control arm and there was no visible damage at all just broke off at the joint. I think it spun out to the right dragging the back left to the right stressing out the upper rear control arm. The pull was on the frame at the front of the car. You never know what is damaged on an accident car. I showed the picture of the frame of the truck and my boyfriend said to just pull it out no problem. Pull on the angled piece or put chains around the part that is bent in and just bend that whole part over. As long as the distance between the wheels is close you will be O. K. Honestly had no difficulty at all handling my car even though it was still off by 1/2 inch distance ont eh elft side compared to the right side center to center of the wheels. Yeah I remember my first salvage buy. Bad frame. Don’t buy sight unseen unless you get a pack built in for huge hidden expenses.

I think it will be pretty easy to swap once you start. Looks like a good buy. I would rock the AT4 without paint and have a story to tell or sell it to me 😂. Just started following the channel.. love the videos!

13:30 how do you even pop that connection? No I do not mean the CV I mean the frame(?).

Value the time y’all have left together, coming from a young guy that lost his years ago there’s nothing under the sun I wouldn’t do to have him and this kind of relationship back.

Never replaced the frame but I do dismantle trucks for a used auto parts yard and a truck this size would take 2 days to pull stright down to frame so I'd say 2 of you can swap the frame inside of a week once frame is ready every thing is going to just fall apart really with how new it is

@George196207 Yes of course...due to having that salvage title! But the price for what used trucks are going for these days is unreal! If i had a big shop like that, i would definitely do what they are doing! Does having a salvage title void out all of the manufacturer warranties & recalls on a new truck like that??? Educate me!!

Hey Brad, I just want to let you know we both grow up in the same small town of Arroyo Grandy California went to the same high school I was class of 89 but I think there are some things you could do to the frame of this truck without doing a frame swap that to me, seems entirely like too much work, putting it on a frame straightener, and then strengthening and reinforcing the existing frame would be a better choice than swapping the entire frame out . I’ve seen a lot of other people make a Z pattern cut into frames re-weld a section of new frame, and then weld steel plates over the top of it for reinforcement just something to consider before you go through all the trouble of swapping that frame

Frame swaps on trucks are pretty easy if I’m honest ! I’ve done several. As long as you have a lift It’s no problem 😊

And if the frame is bent, the entire drivetrain may have interal fractures. Tranny, differentials, engine all should come apart to see if they're going to grenade soon.

I have done a lot of Silverados with the wheel punched back. Almost bent close to the same place.I would have played around with it for a day and see what happens. It's not crushed from an impact where it is shortened up. It is nasty thou.

i did a frame swap on a 2014 denali. took 3- 4 weeks. After that went to the dealer to do computer work. Took a week and about 1500 $ for that. when it was done you could not tell...the dealer could not tell. it was perfect.

Drop tanks, un bolt bed and cab/doghouse lift body off swapped out rear suspension and repair/replace/swap front, brake,fuel etc . I'd say two weeks to drive it.

I have bought many vehicles from Coparts . I usually put my hands on the vehicle that I may purchase. However one time I did not and got burned. It was a Infinity SUV and was listed as a driver. All the photos looked great. Won the bid. Had it shipped to my place and would not start. I did all the checks to starting and got nothing but cranking. Had it towed to Infinity dealer and $250 later was told they have no clue on why it will not start. Sold it to a parts guy. Loss money and learned a valuable lesson. Hands on.

Flew off the road, caught some air whole truck landed on the front driver side tweaking the frame.

I want to say someone ran a red light and tried to avoid the truck, but in doing so the wheels locked up and it was a low profile car and just went straight to the front wheel

The smart start works incredible. My 2022 started last month in -5 degrees in 2 seconds. Nice rig

Just remove the bed, use the lift to pull the cab and roll the chassis out from under it and start moving parts over to the new frame. It’ll suck but in the end it’ll be a fun project.
@landonwilcox1837 Жыл бұрын
Im impressed with quickly ya’ll moved everything over.

I saw another KZbin guy last year do something very similar to what you guys are about to do but he had a good frame but the body was junk (if I remember it was a roll over) but still he had to rebuild the entire truck. I remember that his biggest problem was getting all the computer stuff sorted out because of all the codes it was constantly throwing up! So that would be something to pay attention too! Even just a airbag going off is a pain because it’s not just putting in a new airbag, there’s the clock for that system and all the sensors that go along with that!

I’ve done a frame swap. Here’s the best part you get a new blue clear title for it!!! A good bit of work but value will go up with that said.
@michaelmontanez948 Жыл бұрын
I would maybe have a frame guy look at it first before buying a new frame. Also you may want to look up the Niko Brothers page, they just did the same thing with a totally wrecked Silverado. Might be good reference for you. Good luck

if it wasn't bent they wouldn't have totaled it. I mean this first video of this channel I watched but these guys haven't been rebuilding long if they couldn't tell by it being brand new in the auction. My dad has been rebuilding for 35 years. $$$$$$$$$

Does it need to be a 2023 frame? Chevy had been pretty consistent from generation to generation.
@johnt4270 Жыл бұрын
It hit a tall curb or something like it at speed, if seen that type of damage on truck frames before, check to see if the bed came in contact with the back of the cab on the passenger side.

I see truck frames changed all the time, usually two days work. I swapped the frame on my ram 2500 in about two days. Toyota has a special team that comes into the dealership and swaps the rusty frames under warranty in about a day.
