I'd like to see you break down a body of water and find fish. How do you know where to start and what goes into tracking fish down.
@samkorducki91582 жыл бұрын
Really depends on lake type and species. Tom Boley has really good walleye break downs. Lindners and angling buzz has some good panfish ones
@Pussmash4 ай бұрын
Your best friend is Google. Look up maps of the body of water you're going to. Look for contour lines, close points, or even a deep canal current. Some big ones lurk out there in the deep. If you want to stay close to a bank, look at your map. Find 2 lake points that are pretty close apart. A small cove pretty much. Drill holes 5 meters apart going all the way to the bank from the middle of those 2 points. And try each of those holes. Bonus if you know where underwater structure is, see schools of fish, or have sonar

I've never been ice fishing but it seems like a blast! It's crazy how small of lures you downsize to, and the underwater footage was awesome to see. Great video as always debo!

Want to see more about ice fishing. Have never done it and would like to see some of your experiences. A catch and cook would be cool. Love the show

I'm in Florida, so "ice fishing" to me means digging through my cooler in search of a proper beverage. And I still sat through this entire video. I think that says something about your ability as a teacher, Debo. I love watching ice fishing. Watching. I also find it funny that one of the leading ice fishing companies is based in Florida. Future video idea: Show us how you get all of that stuff out onto the ice; I assume it's a sled or something. I would also like to see an A-Z of a typical trip: How you choose your first spot, drilling holes, setting up, etc. It seems like that process would be rather time-consuming. Keep up the great work, Debo, and thank you!

That's how his tent works. It is setup on his sled. His seat is on his sled. He pulls it all out there, and the tent flips open. Basically no set up, other than anchoring the tent

I agree with Chris Rus- how do you know where to start drilling holes? Also how thick does the ice need to be to support you and your gear?
@nathanriggins52712 жыл бұрын
4 inches is minimum safe ice for walking on/gear. 6-8 can hold a snowmobile, 8-10 quad/maybe sxs, 12 is small car territory. If I am unsure of ice quality I drill holes as I go and measure it with my scooper, also a spud bar and hitting the ice to hear it (a resounding thud is always a welcome sound). Clear/black ice is the strongest (no air). If you know where structure is from the summer start there, you would be surprised how shallow some fish may stay in the winter. I have good luck with weedline edges/points in 10-14feet of water.

I love the ice fishing videos! Love to see more of the Marcum camera with a simultaneous view of the fish finder to see both views. I think thats cool to ba Bible to compare what the flasher says 2hike being able to actually see what it is underwater.

Great and timely viDebo right here even if I'm a few days late watching. I understand the game alright from the bank but I've only ice fished with my pops and that's maybe once a year because we're 2hrs apart and I don't have any gear. I think I'll start collecting gear this year with intentions to get out on my own next year. Probably just do open air sitting on a bucket for a few years before investing in a tent.

Love the underwater video , those slurp moves are tricky Have you try those lindy glow stick lures , the little glow stick help draws in the fish, the plus side is you don’t need to flash charge the lure and it last a long time , the down side is , you will need to get refill glow stick .

A must have is the power auger, I will never not have one. For your one man sled that heater is nice, I have the same one. A little hack for those Mr. Buddy heaters is a thermal fan (it runs on heat and instead of the heat all going straight up it blows it around the hut. It heats up my 949i super quick and to the point you have to turn it off or take some layers off. You were talking about all that weight and I know what you mean, stuff adds up quick. Something to look at is a smitty sled. You are pretty handy and could make one, it was a came changer with dragging my crap (auger, popup, flasher, heater with extra propane, drill for pop up stakes, buckets, spud bar, snacks, drinks). Also, for got to mention Yak trax slide on ice grips are cheap insurance for walking on the ice and you can actually run on glare ice with them.

Happy new year Debo! We don't get ice where I live, but I'm curious what you recommend for an ice fishing gear budget for someone that is starting out? It seems like you need a decent initial investment for all that stuff. I can't wait to see the ice hut content this year. Be safe out there man!
