DEBOSS GARAGE as a third year apprentice HET in Alberta I was told to never put the ring gaps where the wrist pins are. Was told to put them on major and minor thrust sides to reduce as much blow by. Can you clarify this ?

I do not have a winning vehicle but any addition is a contribution. Note: People have told me what my car can and can not do in the past... My car does things they say it can not do. My car is not at the point where I am making things for it due to cost variables and a lack of consumables and tools to undertake most desired tasks. Also the video I have made I don't believe is that good and I want to make changes by re-shooting and actually sharing some history as well as the actual things I have done with my vehicle. Maybe even take it on the road. I am working on a Recon engine swap to which the new engine should provide more power and be trouble free reliable. As the car currently stands. It's not trouble free but is reliable with issues that will result in a major failure down the line. Also I just upgraded my editing software to which hopefully won't keep crashing and will have stability. I also would like to share some history of my vehicle since I've owned it. I don't know how things will turn out, But I hope my car does have a personality people like. PS: Why is it that some diesel engines while built similar some smell worst and smoke more than others? FYI Pajero 4D56 vs Triton 4D56? Protruding valve vs Recessed Valve heads and piston.

For a two ring piston I generally space the ring gaps 180deg apart, 120deg for 3 rings and so forth. Like the honing tool and the fact you give everything a good clean then lube. Absolutely essential. Care too mating the connecting rod so not to impact the crank journal and mark it. Good all round job.

@gordonwbell4 жыл бұрын
Mark Witkop you should always replace the head bolts, the reason is during that 90 degree final torque you’re actually stretching the bolt slightly, and after they’ve been stretched they don’t return to normal and you risk busting a bolt or worse lifting the head while driving....I’m a little puzzled of why he reused them though.
