I run CAT filters on my FASS for my 1LW. The electic heater is garbage, was a complete waste of $200 for me. In really cold weather I just unplug the FASS until the coolant gets some temp in it to heat the fuel and decloud it then plug it back in and all is good. Been meaning to put in a solenoid so I can have it on a switch for cold starting but haven't got around to it yet.

to further bulletproof the HEUI system you could fit a remote hydraulic oil tank, remote pump & filter and return to the tank. That way engine oil contaminants never get to the injectors. You'd be able to fit a lower psi rating filter and it would transfer weight away from the front to the rear of the truck.

@@aserta That’s a tad extreme there guy. I think we can all agree clean water and air are a good thing, but like everything else, there needs to be a balance of what’s reasonable. I assume he’s referring to epa regulations in reference to diesel emissions and this engine swap. I could be wrong there. I’m not up on diesel emissions in Canada, but there’s been an assault on specifically diesel operation, performance, and swaps in the states the last 15 or so years and as it seems to be with everything from the Chinese virus to climate change, not all the science seems to agree. There are studies that indicate the millions spent developing diesel emissions add ons are not necessarily all good and cause other problems with the focus mostly on carbon and nox stuff. We do know it’s expensive, increases cost of ownership and repairs for operators and significantly reduces reliability and engine life. This additional expense is passed on to the consumer as everything relies on diesel engines from transportation to mining materials to make all our modern amenities. We just need a sensible balance a reasonable approach to these things as with anything else. While there are good parts or what environmental protection regulations do, it’s not infallible and we don’t have to like all of it.
