I highly recommend not tying the left and right air bag together. I've made this mistake before. With my camper on it would sway horrible. As one bag compresses it transfers air to the bag expanding amplifying the sway. Not tying the bags together is like adding another sway bar to the truck

I wonder if tying front and rear on the same side could be a good idea. Similar to what Citroen did with their Hydro-Pneumatic setups. So when the front axle hits a bump, it transfers air to the back, lifting it a little bit.
@davidanderson2393
@davidanderson2393 2 жыл бұрын
It makes you want to run seperate air leveling valves to compensate for weight transfer. Freightliner tried to run a single leveling valve on front steer axle when they started bagging them, always leaned to the heavy side of chassis.

@@danielreed9621 are you joking? I can think of a dozen channels or more that have done full frame off custom builds just in the last 6 months. And I am picky about the content that I watch, so there is probably 3 to 4 times that many channels on KZbin as a whole that have been providing this exact type of content (Just in America, there is without a doubt hundreds of Asian KZbin channels producing extremely similar content). Just because you aren't very proficient in finding this type of content to enjoy doesn't mean it isn't available in spades. Stop being a stan and acting like rich is some amazing tech doing shit that nobody else does. He isn't doing anything new, there is a constant battle on KZbin to produce the most exciting content/builds and it leads to dozens of channels putting in a shit ton of effort to build the wildest cars and trucks with the hottest and newest products and techniques etc etc. While what rich does is certifiably awesome, he isn't even remotely close to being the best on youtube at anything he does.

@@DEBOSSGARAGE Rich, you mentioned a balance valve or equalization valve for the bags. I run bags in my ambulances (E-450 front coils) and they had separate schrader valves. I tied them together and hooked them to the truck air system with a pressure regulator to keep the PSI at 40 but yeah the air crossing from bag to bag makes no sense. Can you post a link or name to this balancing valve you speak of? I did some searching and kinda threw up my hands as I got overwhelmed. The thing about air bags and air shocks is you want to keep the sides separate from each other or they act like a reverse sway bar. Vehicles have actually rolled over because the weight transfer has caused the bag on the opposite side to over inflate accentuating the body roll. A good kit should have one way valves to keep the air from swapping between bags.

@justinwatch

Brake systems that have drum brakes the master cylinder will have a residual check valve that the disc portion of the master won't have. You don't want to hook up the drum portion to the disc lines. It will wear out your pads quicker and smoke your rotors due to slight pressure always being applied. When you do switch over to 4-wheel disc make sure you switch the master cylinder to match so it eliminates any residual check valves in the system.

Firstly this is my favorite build on KZbin at the moment, I have 4 of these old 4 doors and seeing this is some serious motivation to finish them. One note about the brake master cylinder I'd like to mention is that the factory lines on all my trucks have the forward port going to the front brakes and rear port to the rear, with the residual pressure valve for the rear drum brakes. If you upgrade to rear discs that valve isn't needed but if you're keeping the drums its important for the self adjustment mechanism.

Grab your Timmies! It’s F-Tree Kitty time! I was working on my dads ‘48 F1 with a 460 yesterday. We’re trying to improve the cooling system so we bought a Flexalite fan with shroud for the aluminum radiator. Mounted it and will do the controller next weekend

I'm glad your sticking with the true Ford way of stuffing it so tight you can't fit your finger tips into anything 😀 Good use of space Rich well done! 👍

Solid video, thanks Rich! Still “hacking” on my radiator support in my Cummins swap. It’s always the small things that take the most time.
