Modiji's state visit to the U.S.A will be a defining moment. There are so many tangible outcomes that will lead after such a visit. One is more enhanced military co-operation & economic growth .The United States has tied up an absurd amount of money in supporting Ukraine. IF the Ukraine/Russia conflict ends(there has to be a peaceful resolution), don't be surprised if the States sinks a Chinese war ship or aircraft carrier after carrying out hostile actions towards the States. The United States and India's allies will defend her in the event there is any conflict with China. So China has to be worried. China cannot afford an armed conflict while at the same time experiencing uneven economic growth which is happening right now. To engage in a conflict with India is tantamount to engaging in www3. China knows if this happens it will see dark days in the future.

The assessment made by the Chinese officers is correct. At this point in time, India does not present a threat to China. The manufacturing capacity of China can guarantee that its soldiers are equipped and supplied almost indefinitely, while their transportation infrastructure close to India's borders are adequate enough for large movements of personnel and armaments. Meanwhile, India is still far from the manufacturing, and supply chains levels of China, and would most likely have to deal with Pakistan on the other side of the border in case of a conflict. Although I see the need of patriotism in the case of a threat, I consider it unnecessary in this case. I believe that, India should use all diplomatic resources available to engage closer ties with China. Using the European Union as an example, an economic integration pact of sorts between India and China would make going to war almost impossible, it would placate Pakistan, and would create such a giant force that would shake, and change the entire planet for millennia.

I find it odd that India thinks it is a rival to China and on the verge of becoming a superpower. In terms of geography, history, population and self-perception maybe but in terms of economic development and military strength it is nowhere close. In reality, India is a rival to Pakistan and is comparable to other countries in the region like Saudi Arabia, Iran and Turkey. It is still reliant on outdated Russian military technology and doesn't have the manufacturing output of China. While China is pretty good in many fields of technology and on track to become the global leader in other advanced technologies like AI, 5G, automation and clean energy, it is hard to find any industry or sector where India is close to becoming "good" let alone becoming the leader.

Palki seems to be living in a bubble herself By all standards India can no way compete with China at present. China has worked extremely hard to be where it was till recently. It was do or die for the people of China. In India even today we don't see that happening. The govt does not try to find out why things are not working or gone wrong. Like the recent train accident. Everyone out to blame anyone right from the sweeper in the railways to the station master who are so overworked because posts are not filled up, train and train are being added, etc. Or convenient still blame it on a community. How far can India go like this. Very sad!

The chinese are right. there is no way india on its own can pose any significant threat to China as it stands right now . The gap is big mainly because the GOI and MOD Babu's are absolutely horrendous when it comes to executive functioning as it applies to defence matters. Part of it is fear, part of it just distrust of the military but mainly it is because they are really incompetent in these matters

India is currently importing a lot of weapons, and though there are a lot of people in the Indian military, access to advanced weapons are very important. British had advanced weapons back in the day, good economy which enabled them to dominate India till 1946.
