This myth is in almost every sport/hobby . From Buying expensive tennis rackets, to buying 500hz monitors. I think the debunk of this myth is Misha Charoudin. Hes able to overtake porshes , ferraris, etc with his VW Up. Much less horsepower, much less grip, feel in the steering wheel. He should have no chance cathing up to them, let alone overtake them. Track knowledge and, car control is supperior to better equipment. For me, I like to buy new gadgets and sim eq bc it makes things fresh. It is like driving new car, youre getting a different feel from your setup, thats all. The only thing that makes you more consistent therefore quicker is good brake pedal, youre more confident and have better feel for the braking. Very good video. Subbed

Nice video! Sim racing is an expensive (at times) but enjoyable hobby for me. I respect those who take it to the next level, but as a working adult with family commitments I do not have the time for dedicated practice sessions. I enjoy sim racing to learn about race craft, historic race cars, and I have a fascination with the tech that is involved in building a sim rig. As a former high school and college athlete, I have had my time with competitive sports, so at this stage I enjoy sim racing to blow off steam and stay abreast of what is taking place in the esports and gaming community. Keep up the good work Mr. Sparks!

@SparksTheory some excellent info and commentary! Racecradt is so undervalued over practice to many people ... I'd rather have a close race with racers that know what they are doing regardless of their speed/laptimes... practice is important but not so necessary if you have good racecraft... cheers mate 👍 👌

Some faster folks are sitting firm in their chair, rig and not getting all of the feedback as others. When you're getting bouced and jarred around , torqued on in every turn...that does make it more challenging. It also makes it a lot more fun and engaging.

I agree 100% with what you said but when it comes to competitive driving, such as Sport Mode, no matter how skilled you are, it counts for absolutely nothing if the driver behind or next to you just doesn't give a crap and will go to any length to overtake/ not let you past! I can only speak about GT7 but until they actually implement a proper driver segmentation and in-race penalty formula, you can be as skilled as Senna, if the driver next to you is going to take you out (because the punishment is far inferior of the reward) you are going to die... :/

Don’t forget short term memory as a natural talent. Sometimes I have a surprisingly fast lap, and the next lap I’ve no idea what it was that I did. Sometimes better gear does work though. Some older gear is just not sensitive enough in a newer game, and you miss details that matter. You can work around that, but should you?
@SparksTheory
@SparksTheory 6 ай бұрын

@@SparksTheory the better wheel and pedals I have now, are actually cheaper :) The amount of g25’s, 27’s and 29’s I bought through the years… ouch. They wear out. But faster? Hm, maybe a bit. More feeling gives confidence. Nothing groundbraking. I will wave the flag over a loadcell brake pedal though. Used to have a Citroën with that kind of brakes, I still want it back.

@MajorWolf72
@MajorWolf72 6 ай бұрын
@@RDR12344 I‘ve been on GT for some years, then switched to iracing, and I know ACC, AC, rf2 etc. GT7 is a simcade, and when you switch to simulations, at first you are VERY out of your depth. After a week or two, the learning curve becomes visible and you are getting into it and better. GT7 is so forgiving in its physics model, be it in driving or collisions, and it’s not very refined in its FFB either. What really is possible, and it’s improving every year basically, you only see when you race on PC, on the advanced titles, with decent or good hardware.
