dendrite forming battery degradation makes a small part of battery not recyclable. most electric battery are not being recycled, and they dont last as long as is apparent in low prices in used market for electric cars, lower driving range in higher mileage cars etc. combustion cars last as long as the metals dont rust, anti rust systems exist but arnt used, most combustion cars dont last as long as they could also because people dont change oil and oil every 5k miles and oil filter every other oil change (when its dirty). oil is recycled by us government , bio fuels, e fuels, hydrogen combustion, are all sustainable. current ev will rust and short circuit in wastelands under rain, moist air etc, they will not be recyclable even when they do somehow start recycling battery by weird materials science stuff without chemical side affects that would make such thing unworthy. if people really wanted to reduce emissions, they would use the limited battery supply to reduce emissions where they happen most, through all cars through all of time: in low speed high engine power situations, which is especially bad in traffic happening near people like crowds of people at sidewalk in a busy city street. normal hybrid cars already do this better than electric car approach, where you can make many hybrids out fo the same battery mass used to make 1 electric car. even better: have electrci assited turbo small single combustion chamber engine charging up pressurized liquid and or air and making electric energy with linear movement, the piston will be pushed back into place by hydrallic switch or something so combustion can push it to make energy , with something like linear electric actuator, which maybe similar to electric spinning motor then the power would be released as needed. they probably will need to use minimal amount of battery (assuming its meaningful to reduce emissions to such a extent). recycalable electric motor by mahle, but it needs transmission, subaru wrx high torque transmission, and toyota uses a first gear for high torque then continues the other gears with ContiniouslyVariableTransmission. such system will be easier to package than combustion and ready for switch out systems easier when a new technology becomes worthwhile, like maybe hydrogen combustion that isnt too hot so the only emissions is water or something, or electric hydrogen, or a proper electric car battery . consider tony heller suspicious observers, and tom nelson, etc in their takes on climate change... also see richard vobes on ulev expansion, romanian tvee video called why woke wont go broke, and see how they print money and give it to people like blackrock who can weaken people to make them easier to control fro power centralization, especially with printed money given my private corp called federal reserve, making money more abundant but it represents the same real wealth, causing everyones dollar to be worth less, whiel they have more... its stealing. blackrock promotes climate change narrative. they constantly get their predictions wrong, they apprently dont know what their talking about and i cant prove their narrative as even proabably correct either. they are taxing productivity and using climate change as a excuse to get ways to control people more in way that favors them at cost of us. look at hwo they put emissins laws retsirctions based on length and width of car but dont tax height, which makes cars unsafe in crash as i explain here, less areoydnamic, they tend to roll over more so less momentum preservation and less safe. they also set restriction based on engine size, which isnt fair because for eample, porsche used a bigger engine because it has less emissions per size than the samller engine which wouldve been less emissions. they also would tax weight of car, for reason i explained. theyd also not make it more difficult for small cars to meet emissiosn stansards, and not relax anti roll over standards and emissions standards for "suv" cars. but consider that burnt food feels bad like other things in nature that normally feel bad when harmful... similar to smelling smoking fumes like tobaco burning smoking fumes, such stuff causes cancer. such smoking wasnt seen as being so harmful until after so many people were moved to seed oils instead of natural fats as cooking oil stuff, which is known for causing health problems like cancer... and thats just 1 part of human health. so, you can argue its not all too meaningful to reduce emissions, but it definitely is better to lessen that stuff liek NOx, SO2, particulate matter (smoke), and heavy metal pariculate such as lead and arsenic, at least to some extent. maybe use CNG, LPG propane combustion.. more energy flow worsens battery degradation you can divide degradation across more battery cells to increase longevity, but the more you add , the exponentially more energy goes into and out the energy to move the car... because your not using all the energy stored in all that weight at a given average moment in driving, and the stuff is heavier per energy vs combustion. weight worsens natural wear damage of roads which costs resources and emissions to fix, heaviness makes car more damaging in car crash. making sructualy stronger part of sedan at same level of taller cars strong structure, protects upper part pf car (and people isnide it) safe from strong heavy parts of taller car, if the part in front of people is all fully crushed and tall car touches the people. nowdays is normally low to the ground to minimize tendency of car to roll over when turning quickly enough. sedan can rise quickly liek audi a8 air suspension, to get hit at a angle that minimizes damage, whiel keeeping car areodynamic and more able to preserve momentum around turns(not tending to roll over), while not being unsafe for non tall cars, by keeping weight low to ground. givign option to raise the car when user gets in, makes it easier for disabled old peopleto get into and out fo car and lift objects into car, by minimizing joign movement and msucle movement. it could give options to make ride less bumpy and stiffen up the ride to make it bumpy for preserving more momentum around turns by making it less tending to roll over. tires wear out emitting micro plastics that suppsoedly are endocrine disrupting, stuff goes into water supply food supply, similar situation with anti birth pill residue, etc, and its heavily petrol based. natural rubber from trees was used but gave far less grip, we could go back to using more of that with lighter weight cars, so less grip is used in dealing with weight, and more is used in gettting car to move and stop and preserve momentum for effiency and manual steering lotus elise style driving fun.

rerember, this should be about lowering emissions of already sustinable types of combustion, not reducing combustion use. rear wheel drive means less regenerative braking, so less degradation, while making it lighter weight in rear mid engine sports car style weight distribution, for dividing weight across all the tires more equal, so front wheels dont get overwhelmed by too much weight and cause car to loose grip, rear wheels help handle more of the weight. same with not making outer wheels handle all the grip without as much help from inner wheels , when car is turning sideways and car is still tending to move in the direction it was moving when it was speeding in straight line. besides preventing traction loss for saftey, this also allows preserving car momentum around turns , so less use of regenerative braking (which is also not as energy preserving) , brakes, engine lubricant, combustion fuel, battery energy, etc, so more longveity of all those things . this would also decrease weight, so less road wear damage, less damaging in a crash. to improve aerodynamic and heating cooling and weight effiency and add usable legroom, make rear seat face the rear and shape the car around that. make seats fold so they would make the person inside make their back bone sit up straight, so its easier to get into the seat, without needing to make a lot of space between the backbone and the wheels, for weight reduction. when door clooses, it lets drive lean back into a seating position similar to gordon murray t50 seating position ,for aerodynamics, weight, and high driver awareness per amount of driver mental stress(lower stress). make it compact 4 seater for minimum costs per capability, and thatll be enough for almost all needs, people can rent a van for family road trip , and carry kids to doctor in a few trips instead of doing it all at once. because modern culture is designed to weaken people to make them easier to control, because of NWO bankers , blackrock esg score, etc, family culture and all long term collaborative relationships are becoming far less common, so 2 seaters will be more reasonable for many people instead of 4 seater, so itd be llooking like aptera solar plugin electric car, or pre sam electric car, or gordon murray imotiv, or gordon murray t27. allow high airflow into car so its very similar to co2 concentration of natural open air, so it doesnt cause couldy stressed depressed mind, and vent can even open more as a alternative to roofless drivers desires without the non effeincy of removable roof sports cars. its aerodynamically better alternative to opening windows more to get rid of a fart smell, and its quieter vs wind noise of putting window down. for luxry car, make it like lucid air front end rood area for rear too, allow manual removable tint shade from sun, and a shade with holes to let in most sunlight but not too much and also for some privacy. because its better to make people buy my car than other sports luxry car, its better to offer such non effcient stuff lie glass roof, and for tire longveity , saftey (like anti fish tailing traction control system), speeding around a turn more smoothly with less tire wear and with optional simulation engine sound that correlates with torque vectoring torque vs RotationsPerSecond of each wheel .... a limited slip difffrential type system is worthwhile for them. tire wear reduction by speeding around turns is considerable for luxry sports car customers because they will speed around turns often even if infotainment system reminds them not to do so and remind how to drive efficiently every time car is turned on. so, energy effiency and emissions is not as good as electric car when comparing one electric car to another one of my concept car, but that doesnt matter, because across the whole fleet of car through all of time, its ultimately more sustainable, less emissions, safer, cheaper, more fun to drive , etc.

EVs would be great if they were comparable to the costs of ICE cars and didn't have such impact on energy consumption during the manufacturing process, sadly EVs are only judged for environment impact on what the EV omits, which is zero emissions. espfusion from reddit 5 days ago "Nice collection of bullshit talking points that anti-EV proponents have been pushing for several years, but this time regurgitated by an actor for some reason. Typical lifecycle emissions of an EV with a 40KWh battery are well below that of a comparable ICE. 40KWh is a little low, but you can scale the battery components and it won't get that much higher. This is using an NMC622 reference case which is already an obsolete battery formulation. The vast majority of carbon intensity is really just energy intensity, mostly electricity intensity, meaning it goes down as electricity gets cleaner. The energy needed for battery manufacturing is also constantly going down. These things will never be true for burning gasoline. I have no idea who told him that solid state batteries would be one third the weight of liquid electrolyte batteries but that's total nonsense, especially for first generation ones. It'll be more like 1.5-1.75x the density if they're using lithium metal or silicon anodes. But that's probably because he has an incredibly overinflated idea of how much batteries weigh today. The battery packs in current gen Tesla vehicles weigh around 1000-1200 lbs, and these are not low range options. That may seem like a lot but considering that curb weight for traditional sedans is around 2600-3000 lbs and subcompact SUVs around 3000 to 3500 lbs and that EVs displace a lot of other weight (bulky ICE engine, transmission, emissions controls, gas/gas tank) it's not that huge of a deal. Recent EVs to comparable ICEs have about a 15% to 25% weight premium. Current gen EV batteries will nominally last far longer than 10 years. Current NMC811 EV batteries will manage 80+% range over at least 1000 cycles and that's with full depth of discharge cycles which are not typical for EV cycling. For a 50KWh car with 250 Wh/mile that would be a 200,000 miles range, which is way more than most people drive in 10 years. But that's NMC811. LFP, which are cheaper and safer if a little heavier, can easily manage over 3000 cycles. So that's 600,000 miles. And LFP is what a lot of mid-range and below EVs are moving towards. EV batteries don't use "rare earth metals." He's probably thinking of Cobalt and maybe Nickel or Lithium but these are not rare earths, and LFP doesn't use the first two anyway. Lithium supply is a challenge but there are lots of emerging options for it, and sodium ion is pretty much around the corner. The idea that an FCEV would weigh half what a similar BEV does is laughable. The 2023 Toyota Mirai is an FCEV sedan that weighs over 4200 lbs! H2 tanks, FC stacks and all the interconnections and cooling and what have you are not that light, plus they have a battery that while low energy capacity has to be higher power capacity, so the weight per KWh is higher. Don't know why you'd assume that all that stuff would have a much lower energy footprint, but the energy footprint for hydrogen fuel will be around twice that of BEV charging. If you have clean electricity for clean hydrogen then there's not much reason that you can't use at least largely use that electricity for manufacturing and charging instead. Synthetic fuels are even less energy efficient than hydrogen and are a poor use of a scarce resource that's better served in other places. This whole comparison between buying a new EV or driving an ICE longer is a false dichotomy. All EV phase outs planned apply to new vehicles; no one's going to make anyone trade in their ICEs prematurely and I don't think anyone is going to prevent ICEs from being resold used. But he seems to think that if you get a new car that means your old one automatically gets scrapped, which is ridiculous. Especially only three years after buying new. For the most part cars are going to have about the same usable lifespan regardless of how many times they change hands after being sold used. That said, driving a worn down beater for as many miles as you possibly can is not always a net win for energy footprint as the cars get less and less efficient and need work done more and more frequently, not to mention the increased safety hazards - the worst thing you can do with your old car is get in a wreck with someone's new car."

Motor cars are not the main problem when it comes to the environment. The main problem, ironically, is electricity production. Now they expect everyone to charge up a electric car every day and they want everyone to believe it will be good for the environment. The MOT "emisions test" isn't in anyway comparable to the certification tests required by a new car. In fact the MOT test is simple a basic "sniff" test that identifies and engine that is effectively totally knackered. I actually ran a project for a major OE where we bought back ex fleet cars of various ages and re-tested them over the certification standard tests and the results were not good, with all the cars being several times more polluting that claimed when as new and some of them being catastophically polluting. Ageing and wear of high tollerance parts like fuel injectors and exhaust aftertreatment systems and blockages and reduced performance of EGR system were the major culprits

As a chemist, chemical engineer, and mechanical engineer, I found Mr. Atkinson's editorial to be optimistic is his discussion of hydrogen... primarily because of the lack of knowledge of the difficulties of handling and storing hydrogen safely. Hydrogen is a much less safe fuel, due to the ease with which it ignites, and other issues which also arise from it being the smallest atom and molecule in the universe. Where we can readily handling liquid fuels with a high degree of safety and minimal levels of training and maintenance, hydrogen needs to be transfered via rather complex nozzle arrangements, and the seals are none too good when the equipment is new. Once worn, the leakage quickly becomes unmanageable, and the risk of a fire and/or explosion becomes very real. Hydrogen has a negative Joule-Thompson coefficient - this means that it get hotter when expanding, unlike almost every other gas. Heat plus a combustible mixture leads to ignition. Hydrogen is combustible in air from ~5% to ~80% Hydrogen burns without soot, so the flame is effectively invisible - fires due to its release in collisions are much more likely to be deadly,

Bravo Geoff mate! I'm Aussie, married to a Filipina grandmother of six grandchildren, who lives in Mindanao Philippines, as I have done for most of the time since August 2017. I've been back in Australia the whole of this year, watching what Beijing is doing with great alarm. I'm glad to hear you viewed serpentza's expose of the crazy stuff they are doing, but maybe you missed viewing his episodes on Chinese EV's. They are full of actual videos taken by the public in China of Chinese made EV's self-combusting. It was mostly BYD vehicles, but since that is the premium brand, obviously you would expect it's a general problem. Most of the instances of them burning down resulted in damage to the property of others, both vehicles and housing. That's not all. Fires often started to show from the seat belt attachment points. As well, there were numerous examples of the failure of airbags to deploy in an accident severe enough to require same, and failure of lane-keep assist "high tech" as well, leading to accidents. I'm no expert on UK politics, but I learned recently that Liz Truss was, and still is, against cosying up to Beijing, but she was dumped after only a month and a half in favour of Rishi Sunak, who is one of the richest leaders in the world (beaten only by Putin, Xi, Kim Jong-il, and a few African despots), and he is very much pro-Beijing. It's those with the money, no real concern for the welfare of the common people, and freedom in general, who hold the reins. I've seen what happens in the West Philippine Sea, and the aggression of Beijing there and around Taiwan, and I wouldn't trust a leader who is pro-Beijing any further than I could kick them! Thankfully, both the Aussie leaders and the leaders of the Philippines have shown sense.

While BYD is supposedly "Build Your Dreams", I think it is better referred to as "Build Your Disaster", "Buy Your Demise" or (due to where the fires often start) "Burn Your Derriere". I haven't seen anything here of a similar nature to the Chinese videos, but perhaps time will tell. As I said, BYD is the premium brand, so who knows how much worse lesser brands are. It's the batteries that catch fire, and commonly when charging. There have also been incidents of course of Tesla vehicles catching fire, but those have been highly reported. BYD EV's are touted as high tech and amazing by motor vloggers in many countries, with no mention of their, umm, combustibility. Of course cars with petrol engines can catch fire too, but it's rare to find that problem with anything but EV's. Add the failure of safety systems and it makes them dangerous.

Im not in this catagory, Ive not ever had a new van and my current one ive owned for 18 years a ford transit 2001 mk6 75hp which does 50mpg on a run.I strted life as a Motorcycle mechanic with city and guilds so im not stupid. All these useless clubs will fail eventully Dont let it get you down because you wont be able to see a doctor for weeks cause the good gps have all retired

@@esm7708 Your missing the point I think. Any 'celebrity' can be inteligent, it's just a shame that some people lump inteligent celebrities in with the moronic time wasters that are only famous for getting onto a dating show or other such nonsense. There's at least one rock & roll "star" who flies his own jumbo jet, while another is a scientist in astronomy. Knowledge isn't restricted to celebrity of course, but people always seem to think that these morons on tv MUST be stupid.

Geoff that beautiful stream made me all emotional😉 Great video, and the automatic response of the MSM is to discredit or cancel anyone who speaks out against, challenges, debates or just offers an alternative view to the narrative/ green agenda / climate hoax. Rowan Atkinson has more credibility and morals than the vast majority of our politicians and MSM journalists combined and I take my hat off to him. Well done Sir 👍

New video backdrop idea perhaps? Great location Love it. As for the content, 'fact' checkers have all got an agenda. The particular agenda of the debunker was abley explained and debunked here in the first couple of minutes. Don't believe a word of what these 'debunkers' say. I find questioning everything, researching for myself, leads to a much more educated conclusion than this 'fact' checker. They don't have yohr best interests at heart. Spot on. Great job 👏

Another great video. In my humble opinion the point being missed is that more EV's means less pollution and so less filtration of sunlight and so the hotter it will get! This whole price increase across the board for heating and travel was designed to make us peasant use less fossil fuel but as most of us can't it just harms our budgeting instead so you can't tell this was the idea of people who don't need to ask the price! I do feel it was all agree at the Glasgow climate summit. Keep up the good fight

Thanks for a lively video. I'm a fellow member of the "old cars for low cost motoring club". Lovely setting and nice to see that boat. It reminded me of the Barmouth to Fairbourne ferry. Noting the importance of ULEZ expansion to to the recent Tory retention of Uxbridge, I checked out my '06 and '59 Notes - both seem to be ULEZ compliant - so what kind of non-compliant car is the average Uxbridge Tory worried about? Rowan Aktinson is a great orator - even though he spent part of his education at "the other place". He and I both have degrees in electrical engineering and the privilege of having known the late, great Rik Mayall. For my own contributions to reducing vehicle emissions I aim to drive a bit less and drive a bit more slowly. We could all do that...

Yep… agreed, as always! My used SAAB 9-5 diesel estate was £1,100. I bought it to tow a caravan. I've owned it for six years so far. No electric vehicle can offer me such a good deal for so little… an ZERO environmental impact for keeping a car OUT of the scrap yards.

If they need to do 180 years worth of copper mining in the next 7 years to make the EVs and other technologies to meet emissions agreements, which park, reserve, neighbourhood, country or sea floor do we wish to destroy to achieve this? Rather than spend $20k more in buying an EV spend that $20k on home Solar, condenser, heating or whatever other energy producing or saving systems. You spend a lot more time in your home than you do in your vehicle.
