I started learning piano a few weeks ago. This is my favourite piece of music so far, it holds some mysterious beauty to me and it seemed very easy to play. So I printed it and sat next to a piano with the sheet music, and it turns out that it's SO much more harder than I thought!.. Debussy is an excellent composer. His music is so complex and easing at the same time.
@Tenolios2 жыл бұрын
If you're learning on your own, here is a piece of advice I wish I had: don't struggle for months on even intermediate pieces. You will progress so much faster if you only focus on pieces you can play reasonably well in 1-2 weeks. At least until you're out of the beginner stage.

A fine example of Debussy's work here; especially as I love the contemporary impressionist movement in painting he was often associated with (Monet et al), his approach sharing some characteristics of this style (despite his rejection of such by contemporary commentators apparently). @@TheFlamingPiano You are so very welcome! Much more going in this piece that many may realize I think. I really should dig back into some of the "easier" old Classical pieces. Since the accident destroyed my dexterity, there are some pieces I can't even touch anymore. I get tears in my eyes for Chopin, not only because it's so beautiful, but because I can't play my top favorites anymore. However, I can't complain really Jason. I quit for over 25 years because of it initially and couldn't do post grad studies, then was gifted with a piano again by my husband because he knew music was missing. I asked for my first piano at age 4 and music has been playing in my head all my life. I love nothing more and you really do inspire me to try some of them again!! Thank YOU :-)

@@TheFlamingPiano Just popped in again after some much-needed gardening. I have been in various therapies most of my life to stay athletic and main what I have. It's nerve damage, but heavily exacerbated by very nasty tendinitis, which becomes harder and harder to heal as I grow older...and now ulnar nerve compression, also treatable with surgery, but natural methods first. To help with some of the other symptoms, yes surgery always a possibility to prevent further damage and I am in the process of getting that evaluated now. Was hoping to wait for advances in stem cell treatments. What I am taking now is drastically reducing the inflammation, so I am happy in the moment. Those are the times when things get better, but if I am not careful in my practice and playing (not to mention garden, golf, bicycling), I easily break myself again!
