"Reflets dans l'eau" (1905) is the first of three pieces in Debussy's collection of "Images" (book I). Debussy was not pleased with his first version of this Image, and he composed a newer version in his newly discovered "harmonic chemistry" language, as he defined it. He expressed his satisfaction of the final version to his publisher, Durant, ready to claim its place next to music of Schumann and Chopin.
