DeCarava's Photos Improvised The Music Of Life

In the 1950s, photography was hardly considered art. If you wanted to be taken seriously as a photographer, you snapped mountains and models -- not your neighbors. It also helped to be white. But Roy DeCarava, who died Oct. 27 at the age of 89, turned all of that on its head.

Beautiful art.I loved the photo's.They tell a story of an oppressed people whose skin tone and race was seen before acknowledging them as a person.It hasn't changed.We're still not seen as a people and to some degree we're still oppressed.Thanks to DeCarava and his beautiful art we can see the person and the love he had in bringing each piece to life so the world could see the existence of a people not seen.BRILLIANT ARTIST.
