Grew up in Seminole. Still go visit there a few times a year to see my parents. I live in the big city of Lubbock now. I will say Seminole is a pretty place, rather idyllic on the surface but it's got an undertow. I am glad to visit but happier to leave sometimes.

There is so much more to that seemingly quiet little town, lots of fun down those country roads outside of the towns in Texas! Thanks for sharing a drive through my hometown! 😃

I remembered Seminole and my last visit was November 1975. During 1969, my family have moved 3 times. From Corpus Christi we left since, my insecure mother messed it up. I don’t wanna to say it. And we lived in Roswell , New Mexico for 6 months before we settled in Seminole in August. Seminole has offered very little adventure. South of Andrew HWY, it was Drive in movies. Not bad. Wickes dime store. Behind the courthouse it was Piggly Wiggly grocery store next to old water tower. Tower movie theater. Some good restaurants but no pizza, Chinese, McDonald’s, you name it. My folks drove to Hobbs 20 miles away to shop such as Gibson’s. Unfortunately until November, I caught mengitits and, I spent 2 weeks in the hospital. That 1953 hospital was no frills. Red and gray floor tiles. Rooms has no TV. Crank up beds. And candy striped young nurses. For several months, I was struggle with my illness and my parents fought. My brother born in April and my mother was in nasty mood and fought more until, I didn’t realize she has mental health issues and my father grew up poor and under educated. He doesn’t have any clue but smoked a lot. In 1971, my folks looked for a house to buy. Around Southwest of city. Lot of newly constructed homes there for sale. We have seen one with double door brick house. Well.... Not trying until August 1971, we decided to move back to San Antonio for good. Father made more money and had a nice life. Until fall 1975 father says he wanted to move to Virginia for 2 years. My mother turned into violent. Very since hr mental health was fragile. He promised 2 years. Nope. We moved in 1976 and 2 years later, I enrolled boarding school in Washington. In 1982, we returned to San Antonio. My parents split. Now they are gone and, I don’t forgive my father who does not have any common sense. Neither my siblings. And until mother’s death it was Borderline Personality Disorder. And neither a best life in Seminole anyway.

Totally disappointed. The town square is a place I wanted to see. The courthouse and surrounding area. This was more like a country road tour.
