December 1968: Christmas in Vietnam

As a Marine, I spent the Christmas of ‘68 in Chu Lai 68-69 1st MAW MAG 12. Luckily, I made it home for the Christmas of ‘69.

My brother was In Vietnam in 67 and 68 he never talked about Vietnam to me until about ten years ago, he is now 70... he was in khe sanh and Saigon during the tet offensive....the stories he tells are mind boggling, I don't know how he's keep his sanity all these years.

My oldest brother served in Vietnam around that same time. His unit rotated out of DaNang just before it Tet.Never talked about it until the mid '80s. He's a bit more candid about it now;he even has an app on his phone showing all the places where he was.

I would like to have had President Johnson with me in 1968 surrounded by the 26 guys in my unit that died because of his desire for personal gain power and money.

For my big brother Mike - In country 1967-68 - Died from Agent Orange (1944-2012) - They called Mike, the Duke of Earl...... I can not stand to listen to LBJ, live or recorded.

I had 1968 Christmas dinner in Vietnam. I was in the field and the dinner was delivered by huey. 300 or so of my battalion got ptomaine poisoning from it. I still believe Johnson had something to do with Kennedys death.

My older Brother went to danang in 68.Brownwater navy.He came back but was never the same. He died a few yrs back. Just trying to see what he went three. He never wanted to talk about it. SO I never pushed it!
