9:20 in desmos, you could also put the table values into a table in desmos. Then on another line type in y_1~(ax_1)^2+bx_1+c. It should give you the constants of those letters. Then bring your equation out ((-4x)^2+184x-2108). Put it in a g(x), but also add the -4 to it so it should look like this g(x)= ((-4x)^2+184x-2108)-4. Then type g(0)=-2112. It saves time if you learn how to use desmos correctly and precisely.

You can actually do the third question way easier in desmos than what you showed. Make a table and plug in all the values for the given points. In a seperate line, write the vertex form y1~a(x1-h)²+k and it'll give you the values of a, h and k so if the question was about one of those that'll work too. But since the question asks about the y intercept, you have to scroll all the way down to find it, and then (as you said) subtract 4.
@sdgsat1823 ай бұрын
Good for you if you can do it faster in desmos, but you're clearly a "master desmos user." Most students are nowhere nearly that desmos-fluent. Honestly, this question is best done directly without desmos, IMO- the key is that you recognize and use vertex form for a quadratic. For a less-than-700 scoring Math student, I endorse his demonstrated method as a good "fallback option." -Mr. Andrew , SDGSAT tutor

I'm very confused @ 23:09, what exactly does it mean when it says: "as a constant or coefficient, the maximum value of the function it defines, where x >= 0." Any help would be amazing!
@teddycitrus2 ай бұрын
When they say "as a constant or coefficient", we simply need to take a step back and review those terms if needed. A coefficient is (typically considered to be) the multiplier of a variable, e.g. x. In the given functions, a clear coefficient is 33. Even though it isn't directly multiplied by x, it multiplies the exponent 0.4^(x + 3) or 0.4^(x - 2), and in the cases of these exponential functions, this means 33 is a coefficient. In equation II, one could also consider 0.16 a coefficient. A constant is simply an explicitly stated value that doesn't change with x/the variable. In the given equations I am not sure you could consider anything a constant. Now let's connect this to the rest. "the maximum value of the function" simply means the greatest value of the function, essentially, the highest y-value. "where x >= 0" is just a statement of the domain, limiting the function to only consider x-values that aren't negative. When we put this all together, the sentence "as a constant or coefficient, the maximum value of the function it defines, where x >= 0.", basically means: "A literal number value displayed in the function equation that is the highest value of that function, taking into account only positive x-values/x = 0." The question is asking you to find which functions have a number in their equation/formula that is equal to their highest y-value. (Answer: It's only equation II). sorry if the words are kinda goofy i couldn't think of any better way to explain it

@MathwithWaqasShah5 ай бұрын
bcz in the question it was asked to find the y intercept of y=f(x) not of y=f(x) +4. thats why 4 is shifted on the other side of the equation means f(x)=y-4. i hope it would have helped
@katie39138 ай бұрын
For question #5, wouldn't it be easier/more efficient to plug in both equations into Desmos, put "p" as a slider, and then adjust "p" until the two lines are parallel?
@preppros8 ай бұрын
Hi, you could use the slider but if the answer choice is a fraction such as 5/13 (0.385) the likelihood of you being able to find the correct answer with the slider is pretty low. According to the international students I worked with, who have been taking the Digital SAT for over a year, answer choices like those have been quite common for more difficult questions. So I would use it as a last line of defense if you were stuck on how to solve the question without the slider.

@pandathegaminglegend57004 ай бұрын
@@adnansrour8790 it says that it crosses through the x-axis twice. and since the y value of the vertex is negative that means the parabola needs to face upward. otherwise it would never cross the x-axis (draw out or use desmos and you'll see what i mean). this means a needs to be a positive value (anything greater than 0 works). so by setting up the equation in terms of a you just need to find the only one where a is positive and that's your answer
