Story of this..
Joe and my mom bought his son
(Donovan) and his wife (Regina)
something with significant dollar value
for their presents.
Only for The wife Regina to give mom
and Joe a jar of nuts (about $1) and a
Royal Dansk tin container of cookies
which were about $3 to buy back in
1994!
This, ladies and gentlemen, was the type
of personality Joe had. He was insulted
by the value of the gifts. He was insulted
only because they got them something
signicficantly high value. BUT even then,
Joe had the tendency to be insulted with
low dollar value gifts. Since he was used
to the higher pay environment of life
(his job as an optician)
Joe was 48 at the time. He
was a heavy drinker and
smoker. He probably was
drinking, like he often did.
Almost everyday, I observed
Joe drinking a whole bottle
of Smirnoff vodka.
I, the one who made this
video in 1994, was 24 at the
time. I am 53 as of 2023!
Let me tell ya, I wouldn't
even be bothered to be
insulted by any gifts. if
someone gave me $1 items, I
myself would sort of question
it. But definitely would not
throw that tin full of cookies
over the fence! Like Joe did.
LOL

This was pretty funny! 😆 Joe was a character and it's crazy that he's only 48 here and looks maybe 58. I'm turning 47 in February and think I'm still somewhat youthful looking.. at least I like to think so. lol Thanks for sharing another awesome video, and Merry Christmas to you and your family, Gil!

Wow, this has to be such a coincidence that my situation happened in Christmas of 1994! Well i was lucky to get any gift! My parents didn't make huge money. And so my mom gave me a two piece Lint Roller! (The big washable roller and a compact lint roller.). I was nine years old when i got them. I was hating it. However i had to remind myself, my parents couldn't afford suxh extravagant gifts. Im not sure what happened to them. However, i wish i still have them because they were a reminder of my mom. (She passed away in 2019.) The thing we take for granted. As of now, I wouldn't complain if I got items like those. Its the thought that counts! Also in this economy, we need to take what we can get!

My parents taught us to be appreciative of what we get, especially as an adult. We were always of the mind that Christmas was about the kids. Nuts and cookies are a pretty decent stocking stuffer. Now if you're rich, I guess it might seem tacky, but my family was mostly working class/lower middle.

I agree. He was so disrespectful towards women, and Gil’s mom. I’ve been married 3 times, but one thing that shouldn’t even have to be said, is “Don’t disrespect or talk negatively about your spouses child/ children.” Being drunk is not an excuse. I could feel Gil’s mom and Hector when Joe was mouthing off about Arnold. Even if your spouses kid/adult has issues, you don’t speak down on/ about them to their face and in front of the mother! …..and on CHRISTMAS?!?!? 🤦‍♀️ That really made me mad, because Gil’s family are genuinely good kindhearted people, and Joe is just a drunk @ss hole. It’s not HIS place to judge Theresa’s kids, I don’t care if he pays the bills, it’s just something that is not his place. It would be different if Gil’s dad was never in the picture, or abandoned them and never spoke to them, if the stepfather steps up from beginning, and actually had a part in raising them, then I would think, “OK, well at least he stepped up, helped, tried to raise the children right, etc.” but even then, you can address the kids “problem “ in a better way than a drunk rant. Gil’s mom deserved SO much better 🥺 I’m surprised Hector didn’t kick Joe’s @ss, that just shows how much composure Hector has not to knock the SH!T out of him.
