Lucas has invited James over, which Leah is less than pleased about. James and Lucas talk about what James did and James says he's sorry for what happened. Conversation turns to Ste and Lucas tells James that it won't be easy to make things right with Ste and he'll need a plan. Lucas has made Ste his favourite food, set up his favourite songs on a karaoke machine and lit candles, as well as convincing James to dress in their wedding tracksuit, in the hope of getting them back together. However, when Ste arrives back, he's less than pleased to find James there and tells him to leave...

The role played by Ste's poor parenting and permissiveness of Lucas's misbehaviour - some of it criminal and borderline abusive - is being discounted and all the blame laid at James's door. Lucas tormented James for months, and faced almost no repercussions from Ste. Yes James should've restrained himself but there's only so much a man can take, especially once Lucas's abusive behaviour towards him took on a homophobic tone. Ste absolutely didn't care that he was raising a little terror - and no, you can't blame James since Lucas started acting out long before James locked him in that shed overnight or hit him.

Ste has more than been there for James even when they weren't together. Moreso than James has been there for him thus far in fact. And I would hope he would put his child's safety and well-being above his spouse.
