On of the things that I love about Ste Hay is the fact that he really is the most well developed character in the show. Long before Brendan Brady ever showed up, Ste Hay had already been to hell and back. His character had already been well established and developed long before Brendan's arrival. We must remember, he'd already been on the show four year's, and was very very popular and with a very large fan base. I think one of the reason why his character is so developed, I think the writers saw from the beginning what raw talent they had in Kieron Richardson that they pulled his talents out of him and used him like a work horse. I don't mean work horse in a bad nor negative way, they just put him to good use, and a lot of it. The truth is, no one else can do what Kieron does. No one can rip your heart out like Ste Hay. The writers have given this kid a live of constant tragedy, a life of constant pain and suffering. Truth be told, I just don't know whats holding this boy up? I've watch Steven's story line from the beginning, and all I can say, Ste Hay has had very few good days. That's what I mean by work horse, they keep his life, this character in constant turmoil and confusion and uncertainty. Ste Hay entire life can be defined by continual turbulence, highs and lows. While its true that there are other characters that have been on the show much longer then Ste Hay, you'll be hard pressed to fine one whose character is more developed with so much done to him and with so much time spent on then Ste Hay.

Okay, as much as I love Ste he is being horrible with poor George. However, Ste is going through a rough time and has enough trouble dealing with his own life without having to be a gay role model for sweet teenage-George. So I forgive him... And he's right, in a way he's doing the right thing for George, he teaches him a lesson: as sweet as you are Georgie, you can't go to bed with the first gay bloke, especially if he is so wasted. You can't trust people just because it is a little village (with a lot of psychos and killers by the way) you can't trust people without Knowing them or you have great chances to get hurt.

Ste didn't give him a chance, he kissed him and barely let him say he hadn't done this before, Ste thought he meant one night stand. It was lack of communication, but you can't blame just one for what happened. Ste should of said in the morning that nothing else would happen.

I can relate to both Ste and George. When I was a skinny teenager, all gawky, I guess I didn't understand that the first guy you had sex with wasn't your Prince Charming, but more than likely a hook up. But it was a learning experience and as I grew up, i came to realize that sometimes sex is just for fun and sometimes you meet a guy that you want to see again- and see what happens. Thats life, I guess. Hi all, good to be back.

We as gay men have it tough We all strive to have a normal relationship with someone because that what we want to feel normal. Treated normally like anyone else. Obviously George made a mistake with to bed with Ste, but neither Ste or Doug for instance knew before they ever had sex. They lived the "Straight" life before they came out. George is going through what many gay youth are going through today But that what everyone does. We all make and have to make mistakes to figure out who we are.

I think that and he has grown up since then, and since the loss of his friends and the argument with Phoebe he probably felt more lonely. He needed comfort that night just as much as Ste.

George was drunk too. He said so when they walked into Ste's house, then he proceeded to have 3 more. Neither were in a position to handle decisions so they had sex. Ste was sober when he treated George like this, no excuse for hitting another person. Especially in anger. Thank God Amy left with the kids so they couldn't see their daddy do that.

I don't know anything about this character George but Ste could have been a little more sensitive to the boy. I understand the pain that Ste is going through however Ste know how it felt when Brendan treated him like crap so why treat some poor young man like that. I hope the writers do better with Ste's character.because my heart went out to George.

A WORD! I've always loved this space, created and kept alive by esf, to speak your heart about the one and only Brendan Brady and his whereabouts right as it happened. I enjoy reading comments and making the occasional one myself. Beeing probably one of soo many, who had their hearts ripped right out last week, still feeling out of breath a bit, I find little encouragement in recent endless back and forth battle of opinion by the same people, that drowns the usual diversity in inputs I love

I meant as in he got with someone who initially rejected him or in his case was treated badly in the early days, he should know how it feels to be in the 'weaker' position. George didn't throw himself at him Ste made the first move and after his argument with Phoebe he wanted companionship and Ste gave him that. Don't forget George is still a teenager, despite his previous rocky relationship with Ryan, George doesn't know what to do or expect. He isn't completely innocent, but moreso than Ste.
@thewindycity927711 жыл бұрын
I'm so damn tired of people bringing up the fact that Brendan beat up Ste. News flash! That was the whole point of this story line, Its about domestic abuse. Brendan's beating of Ste was not without its point and purpose. Secondly, Ste sticking with Brendan wasn't a reflection of some kind of weakness in him, but rather his strength in standing by the man he loved. Why? Because he saw more value and worth and potential in Brendan then the pain he was receiving. Brendan was worth fighting for. That's why at the end of that day, its Ste call, and no one else's. Its not always true, that people who put up with violent lover's are some how weak or even stupid. Sometimes they see things in that person no one else can see nor possibly know and understand. I for one love Ste for standing by Brendan. Amy never understood what Ste saw in Brendan, and she wrongly faulted Ste for it. To the end, to this very day, she never understood Ste's love for Brendan. The truth is, she couldn't understand it, because she never loved anyone ( Not even Steven ) so deeply and unconditionally as Ste with Brendan. In fact, Ste's love for Amy was always more stronger, then her, for him. She has always been a source of his pain in one way or the other. She never really truly forgiven Ste for the beatings he gave her, which he was so clearly repentant of. It always broke his heart that he could have done that to her, but she always used that against him, to get whatever she wanted. I use to love Amy, and thought she was such a positive force in his life. I no longer believe that. She was all about controlling him, and she did that through their kids and reminding him of the physical abuse he caused her. The physical abuse he received from Brendan was never the main reason he left him. It was more about Brendan not being true to himself, about who he really was. Ste just figured out who he really was faster then Brendan, and was no longer willing to hide in the shadows in shame any longer. In fact he told Brendan that. He said: You better think about where you'er going from here, Cause I know where I'm going, and its not back into the shadow's. Not for anyone. That then was the major turning point in Steven's life. He knew then, he could never hide who he really was. I love Ste Hay !

I don't understand how people can say that George asked for it, after everything he went through, his insecurities with his ex boyfriend plus all the drama with almost being raped; of course that's going to affect you and he placed his trust in Ste. Now George has to face the consequences over something he genuinely thought could work after being hesitant about it for so long and rather than being helped is trampled on. Ste should know what George feels like being in a similar situation.

- that off my chest, what I’d really like to say is, how great I think it is, to finally again watch Kieron show, how versatile he can actually be, in his portrayal of Ste, if the writers just gives him a chance. I’ve missed him a bit these last few weeks, to add soul into the Stendanship. I blame the writers, really, and of course Emmett, who blows EVERYBODY out of the water.
@mikex727711 жыл бұрын
I never want to say this, but after reading some comments below, I have to say. For those people who's saying that Ste doesn't have to take responsibility and did nothing wrong, the REAL reason is because you guys just think George is not hot enough for Ste. If it was someone really really hot, you guys must be the first say they should be together.
@SamR199511 жыл бұрын
Well George is around 17/18 so he's not really an adult yet, but Ste has had a lot of experience especially in the last couple of years and sometimes he was a victim to Brendan, he should know what he's doing and how he affects other people despite being drunk, you don't accidently sleep with someone just after your boyfriend has gone to prison however much comfort you want.
@SamR199511 жыл бұрын
I'm around George's age and being gay is hard enough never mind trusting someone to lose something that is important to them. It does show that not everything is perfect but George didn't deserve the verbal abuse from Ste.

The fact is Ste made the first move, George accepted it and that's that. Yes he's gutted over Brendan but that does not justify the way he was with George.

Exactly, Ste was always a "bad boy" if you've seen his early years. But most Stug fans only know the fake Ste when he was with Doug. But Ste had a whole criminal past and anger issues they don't know about including abusing Amy. When Ste was with Brendan (not the violent moments of course) it was the best version of Ste because he was truly happy and Brendan taught him to be himself. Without Brendan he's reverted to his teenage self and is lost again.

Thanks. You're right the comment is Brendan would be heartbroken, not he should be heartbroken. But then the comment continues "cuz be would know he's the cause." That's where I disagree. Brendan would not know he's the cause. He might *believe* he's the cause. Believing is not the same as knowing. Brendan's actions provided a stimulus, the response to which is Ste's responsibility. I'm assuming that "Ste being like this" refers to Ste's treatment of George. That is hardly Brendan's doing.
@SamR199511 жыл бұрын
I'm really not just blaming Ste, I personally just think that he's more to blame despite them both doing the wrong thing. And there are no victims, I just feel more for George than I do for Ste right now and that's just my opinion. Plus people break up everyday, Ste's break up with Brendan doesn't justify how he was with George in the deli and that's mainly why I stick with George in this situation.
@SamR199511 жыл бұрын

despite what he told and I don't recall it, he was not because he decided to accompany him home exaclty because ste was drunk and he was not, in fact look at how differently ste and george acted, ste was clearly drunk while george was perfectly sober, he was also asking for info about brendan to know if he was out of the picture. he was with phiby having a normal conversation while ste was just thrown out of the pub. he probably said that to impress ste

I can't stop laughing at Ste's face when he wakes up and finds George in bed with him. It wasn't abuse George was giving though, I just wouldn't call him an idiot he made a mistake and that's not idiocy. It is universal and I get opinions are going to be different. I just think Ste despite his situation should know better than to shout at someone younger than him about knowing their night together was.
@georgiagcd11 жыл бұрын
Yes he had, but his returning to his old self is a result of the LOSS, loss of BB and loss of his kids, Amy and Cheryl. Ste has never been this alone and lost before. To say this is Brendan's influence is a simplistic explanation.

Poor George...it's not that he didn't know better it's that he's so lonely and he thinks if he can just keep at it like it is what he wants then it will be what he wants. It's killer awkward for both of them. Everyone thinks Ste should just pick himself up and get on with it because he knew the kind of man Brendan was...the only problem with that is that he is the only one who knows the kind of man Brendan is and no one knows how bad he's hurting.

I agree that assigning blame for Brendan or Ste's kids is not fair. Especially since is something they have no control over. The intensity of Ste's love and consequently the intensity of his pain is not their doing. Ste is responsible for his actions, but, excluding crime, I don't think is fair to expect rational behavior from Ste now, let alone expect him to move on and start a new relationship (In case of George's expectations)

First of all, George took Ste back to Ste's home because Ste was so drunk; 2nd, it was Ste who made the first move, not George; 3rd, George told Ste he never had done it before, and Ste told him to TRUST HIM; there is absolutely no way George took Ste's advantage here. In your theory, If one of them was a girl, it would be George. I love Kieron Richardson, but his character here is a jerk. If you couldn't see this, it's fine.
