DECEMBER FAVOURITES 2020, FRENCH BROCANTE+old books| Merveilles en Papier

Very last video of 2020 with a timely find: an antique fire placeclock from the 19th century to jump from 2020 to 2021 in style..:) Was hunting for such a clock for years to complete my château decor
(it was foundfrom a local seller in my town on the french website, leboncoin.com )
Also nice old books found at the old book shop and this book "Victorian secrets " by Sarah A. Chrisman ‪@Victorianlady‬ about her experience wearing a corset for mnay years. I recommend the book for those who are interested in clothes from the past, and forgot to say in the video that the book is profound but also very funny at times, I enjoyed it very much!

Hi Laetitia, that clock is fabulous! Just for your interest: in English, we would call this a mantle clock, to go on the mantlepiece. The mantlepiece is the shelf above the fireplace. I see in Google Translate that manteau in French signifies a coat. So, the mantle is the fireplace's coat! Another lady who studies historical costume (and wore a corset for 5 years due to a spinal condition) is Bernadette Banner. Her KZbin channel is very interesting. Another entertaining channel you might like is PrettyShepherd. She is Transylvanian (Hungarian/ Romanian) and embraces her culture and costumes and hairstyles, both historical and cinematic. Lovely video. Have a very happy New Year!

Love your new Mantle clock, it's very Beautiful. When you go to the clock shop to ask about how to make the sounds work, to ask if it needs a glass case to protect it from the dust. The clock is wonderfull. I love normal clocks, because I always make mistakes with the digital ones. I see 8.40 and in my head it is an hour earlier. Don't ask me how, I don't know. I read Michelle Jae Andrews message (from 2 days before this) and she write Bernadette Banner is also a lady who studies costumes. She has a lot of videos and she is wearing Victorian an Edwarding costumes in her daily life. Have a very creative 2021.

Laetitia another sweet surprise on such a rainy windy day❣️Your new old clock is charming with all of the intricacies in gilt. And the mantle is lovely too. I was a teenager in the 60’s and was so tiny, my waist was 23 inches❣️but it was before pantyhose so we wore girdles! To hold up our nylons! Not quite a corset! Cathy Hay is another gal who dresses and sews her historical clothing. And folkwear clothing patterns might be interesting as well. The books are wonderful and the last one was rather intriguing too. Hi letitia, I think this is for pattern's for fret sawing wood, paper patterns to create this, so thay stick paper pattern on ply wood and cut pattern out with fret saw to create patterned wooden objects !!
