With my broad beans and garlic planted I'm planning what my succession plantings could be. This will be 2 successions more than ever before. I am also sorting out the infrastructure and layout of the allotment to its final arrangement. Lots of work but great fun too. Thanks for the videos.

It sounds like you're really putting in the effort to create a fantastic allotment Ken! Planning your succession plantings sorting the final layout and infrastructure is such a smart move. Can't wait to hear how it all turns out!

Thank you both for a great video. I am still busy with my dahlias prepping them for storage. Have about 50 left to do. All under cover so safe until i put them in their crates in the pet bed shavings. Fuchsias, Salvias and pelargoniums already tiucked up. Bulbs all planted. Happy growing. 🙂

Thanks Barry for getting me in the Christmas spirit with your holly jolly music. We just celebrated Thanksgiving here yesterday and I took advantage of the Black Friday sales online today to purchase some seeds for next year. We are expecting cold weather for at least a couple weeks it appears so I'm hoping my vegies still in the ground under plastic will survive. My winter density lettuce will get ith's first real test.

I'm so glad to hear that the music music is helping you get into the Christmas spirit! Great idea to purchase those seeds on the Black Friday sales, we have just done most of our Christmas shopping in the sales. Best of luck with your winter density lettuce-may it thrive despite the cold!

Thanks for the latest video - good idea about the seed inventory. I hate to admit that I still have seeds from our time living in Spain (about 10 years ago (and last year I sowed some of them and they came up - unbelievable). My gardening issues in Spain where mostly the geckos eating the tomatoes :)

Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad you found the seed inventory idea helpful. It’s incredible to hear that those old seeds still have life in them!

Hi. Did you do a conclusion to the different composts you were trying each month?
@nodignorfolkgardener4575Ай бұрын
Thank you for your interest! I really appreciate your engagement with the series. The conclusion was in an earlier video, and we found the best to be Fertile Fibre!

I collect leaves from the garden in compost bags and leave them to dry in the greenhouse. Once dry, I hope to shred them using a brush cutter or something else so that six bags of leaves become one.
@nodignorfolkgardener4575Ай бұрын
That sounds like a fantastic way to make the most out of your leaves! It’s amazing how much space can be saved with a little effort - thanks for sharing!

I've noticed pigeon damage on my purple sprouting broccoli just this week even though I had bird netting on them.They land directly on the netting, pressing it down onto the tops of the broccoli then eat the middles out - very annoying! Keeping insect netting on like you've done is definitely the way to go plus it's probably more environmentally friendly as other wildlife is less likely to get tangled up in it.
@nodignorfolkgardener4575Ай бұрын
They do land directly on the netting as you say, we found that out a few years ago and is why we moved to the set up we have now. I do find bird netting a problem for birds and try not to use it, however sometimes we have to with strawberries for example where we need pollinators to get in but not birds!
