The first Dickens I read and actually liked was "A Tale of Two Cities". When I bragged to my high school librarian, he scoffed at me, calling Two Cities "the Spielberg of Dickens"! But while I couldn't stay awake through Great Expectations, I really really liked Two Cities, so I recommend it to you.

I'm so excited to see your new shelves!! I've just went and put Lore Olympus on my book list! I hadn't realized the comic was in book form now, so yay! I just finished The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan, and it was super good. It's set in Edinburgh, and the way she wrote about the city, makes me want to visit so bad.

I have the same issue with Charles Dickens books but I was able to get through A Christmas Carol based on knowing the story from the many adaptations. Good luck on your TBR.

The bookshelves look fantastic Kalyn!. Good luck with your December reads. It has been a hard reading year. I have managed to read 90 books despite upheaval in my life this year 10 more to go to get to my goal of 100. I hope 2022 is a better reading year. I'm hoping to get the Mina Lima Harry Potter next year. Misery is one of Kings best novels- I really hope you enjoy it. I'll be reading 5 Christmas books this month as well as 5 other genre books.

I'm planning on picking up The Silmarillion as my pick for December. I usually watch LOTR over christmas so it's always associated with the holidays, and I'm excited to finally get to it since I've had it on my shelves for forever! I'm currently on the last book of Robin Hobb's Tawny Man trilogy. I don't know if you've heard of the Realm of the Elderlings series but I think you'd love it!

I've enjoyed every Dickens book I ever read except Bleak House. I liked The Old Curiosity Shop and you inspire me to revisit it. I usually do reread Christmas Carol, but so far this month I have reread Her Father's Daughter. Thinking about revisiting Honor Harrington. If I can find them. Nothing like Space Opera to curl up with on a cold day!
