Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) allow entities to transact seamlessly within decentralized ecosystems by serving as traceable, tamper-evident, and unique sources of verifiable data about the entities. Think of a DID as a globally unique identifier. Rather than having to manage several distinct forms of identification, entities can enjoy secure, hassle-free transactions with any number of ecosystem participants while having control over their own data.
DID adoption will be essential to unlocking decentralized applications for connected vehicle and IoT commerce.

Appreciate the detailed breakdown! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?

This sounds like centralized control masquerading as decentralized autonomy. Remember, a technology being decentralized, in and of itself, does not mean that there is no centralized control. While a decentralized network CAN be designed to have no centralized control, an entirely centralized authority can use decentralized technology to enforce it's centralized control. There is a lot of double speak and double think in this presentation.

would be interesting tho, if you could legally own your own digital identity with zero government or corporate control. In such a way that it also still protects your online anonimity.

You're absolutely right that just using decentralized technology does not automatically mean there is no centralized control involved. Blockchain networks are a perfect example - some are very decentralized, permissionless and censorship-resistant, while others are configured to give more control to certain entities. When it comes to DIDs, it is true that you could potentially build a DID architecture that enables centralized authorities to control identity data or circumvent user privacy. We have to be vigilant about these risks. However, I believe DIDs have the potential to shift power and control over digital identity back towards individuals if implemented responsibly. The W3C DID standards stress concepts like self-sovereignty, privacy and user consent. With open standards and interoperability, users can move their data if one provider becomes centralized or abusive. Look nothing is guaranteed, but decentralized technologies like DIDs are powerful tools. With ethical design, governance and community oversight, they can help dismantle centralized control over digital identity and empower people - giving individuals more agency over their data than ever before. But your skepticism is healthy and will help keep the DID community honest. This is just one step DID's were invented in 2017/18 give us time to innovate the future.

It's decentralized as PII(Personally Identifable Information) is stored in User's wallet so is under user's control. User get's to decide what information(credential) he/she wishes to share and with who(verfier). Verifier can verify the authenticity of the information by looking up public key of the issuer.
