Beautiful relaxing waterfall video and hike review for the Deception Creek trail 1059 in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State. An easy and peaceful hike through old growth forest, the trail follows close to the creek, more like a river, the first 1/2 mile. Several deep clear pools to swim in when the water is low in August and September. Amazing waterfalls between huge rocks and cliffs. A few blueberries, and we had no bugs.
The trail enters the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, and then crosses the creek on a somewhat high log bridge, which our dog was a little scared to cross. It then leaves the creek, heading moderately uphill and doesn't meet the creek again until almost 3 miles. You can hike as far as you want on this trail, as it's 10 miles to Deception Pass. There are campsites at 1/2, 2, 3, and 5 miles.
Impressive old growth forest of fir, cedar and hemlock with mossy forest floor and cute little alpine flowers.
The trailhead is on highway 2, East of Everett, 8 miles east of Skykomish on the way to Stevens Pass. From the popular Deception Falls parking lot, with restrooms and Nature Trail, go East a few hundred feet and right on short and steep Forest Service Road #6088, about 1/4 mile, elevation 2000'.
