This movie brought back the sad memory from 17 years ago when I remember the Beslan School massacre where 333 people of which 186 were children were killed. A great movie with good acting. May those who were killed rest in peace.

A very good film and great acting ! I fully read, saw on TV and vividly remember the entire Beslan school massacre by Shamil Bashayev and his Chechen terrorists in 2004. The FSB Special Ops did a real good job in killing him and his gang thereby avoiding another horrific terrorist act. As our Bible says 'When you live by the sword, you die by the sword' !

I thought the acting was pretty terrible. Basayev's character was very different from ""Bazgayev"" if you compare it to actual interviews of him. It also far oversimplifies the conflict.

There were many foreign fighters who adhered to Wahhabism, but I’d like to see a couple of credible sources stating that the Saudi regime backed the Chechen fighters. What is known is that the man in commander was of a Saudi origin. If that happened, it is not a surprise. The Saudi regime has supported a few jihadists. It is a regime supported by the US. Similarly, the Russian regime has been supporting a brutal dictator in Syria for years. Russian mercenaries through the Wagner group are operating in Libya. There is a long history of big and regional powers supporting different factions in different ways. States have been using terror. Organisations and individual have been using other terror. But if you are a nationalist Russian, for example, defending the Russian state, you would not see it because that’s nationalism and patriotism. It has nothing to do with oppression and injustice. It has everything to do about belief in the nation state. My country right or wrong.

Have you ever been in any part of Russia or you're just talking out of your ass? Chechenia is not your "sweet west" where everything is traceable. Infact I am not Russian, I live far away in southern Europe, but nice try. Last but not least look for Beslan massacre, where radical islamists killed 333 children in a siege that lasted 3 days and night.

Interesting most comments about how Russian movies are so much better than American movies. I find many different movies may be better than Russian, American, Turkey, Argentina, South America, etc. I would imagine Russian movies to be a favorite of Russians. At lot has to based on based on Russian culture. Most Americans have had very little experience with Russian, Stalin, communism, Russian prior to communism (tsar rule) culture. So they might find their own culture as being better. Yet epic movie making was mostly generated in Hollywood to start with. Along with British film making. I find there are great films for vast cultures around the world. I have loved seeing films from all over. I prefer non dubbed films. When they dub the film which losses so much. Sub titles give authenticates in the voices of speaker. I learn more about the culture this way and keep with the story line. I look forward to watching this Russian movie. Thanks 9:04
